Today we heard the sad news that the first resident to ever call the Austin Tourist Park home (back in 1982) has passed away in Parkes, where she moved to be closer to family after living with us for more than 10 years.
Rest In Peace Thelma from all of us here.

Sometimes it's the little things that leave the biggest impression.

After a long 16-hour drive, walking into a warm, well-lit cabin isn't just convenient—it can make all the difference.

Whenever we know guests are arriving late on a cold evening, we'll do our best to make sure they're welcomed by a warm cabin that's ready for them to simply unpack, relax and catch their breath.

Thank you, Megan, for your lovely words. It was a pleasure to welcome you, and we're so pleased to hear you'll be back for a longer stay next time.

We look forward to seeing you again.

A little trip down memory lane...

On the left is our very first Front Office. It wasn't fancy, but it welcomed thousands of travellers over the years, helped families start their holidays and greeted plenty of familiar faces returning to Austin.

On the right is our Front Office today.

The fresh paint might be one of the latest changes, but it's just another step in a journey that's been going since our family first welcomed guests to Austin back in 1982.

Over the years we've renovated cabins, upgraded facilities, planted trees, built new spaces and refreshed old ones. Through it all, one thing has stayed the same: we want every guest to feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door.

It's fun looking back to see how much has changed... and we're excited to see where the next chapter takes us.

G'day!

Sometimes the little projects can make a big difference.

Over the past few weeks, our Front Office has had a fresh coat of paint and a bit of a refresh. It's a small change, but one that helps create a brighter and more welcoming space for guests when they arrive.

We're always looking for ways to improve the park, whether it's a major upgrade, a refreshed cabin, new amenities or simply giving an important space a fresh new look.

Now all that's left is putting everything back where it belongs... and trying to remember where we put it in the first place.

What do you think of the new look?

🏉 Last chance to plan your footy getaway.

The NRL arrives in Tamworth next weekend and it's shaping up to be a fantastic few days of rugby league, family fun and winter road-tripping.

Whether you're cheering from the sidelines, catching up with friends or simply looking for an excuse to get away for a few days, there's still time to turn the weekend into a Winter Grand Adventure.

Pack the beanies, hit the road and make a weekend of it.

🧢 Winter Grand Adventure #2 – Gunnedah

Winter is a great time to slow down, take the scenic route and discover somewhere new.

Just over an hour from Austin Tourist Park, Gunnedah is known for its country hospitality, beautiful lookouts and one of Australia's largest koala populations.

Pack a picnic, explore the walking tracks, take in the views from Porcupine Lookout and keep an eye out for koalas along the way.

Then head back to Austin and settle in for a relaxing winter evening.

Because sometimes the best adventures start with a simple day trip.

Last week, Alison represented Austin Tourist Park at the Business NSW New England North West Future Tourism Forum in Tenterfield.

The forum brought together tourism operators, councils, businesses and industry leaders from across the region to discuss the future of tourism and the role it plays in supporting local communities.

Alison was invited to share Austin's story as part of a regional tourism case study and later joined a panel discussion exploring how tourism can create positive outcomes for regional communities while preserving the character and experiences that make country destinations special.

For us, tourism has always been about more than accommodation. It's about supporting local businesses, helping visitors discover new places, creating connections between communities and ensuring regional towns continue to thrive.

We're proud to have been part of the conversation and grateful for the opportunity to share the Tamworth story with operators and industry leaders from across the New England North West.

Andrea recently stayed with us for a night while travelling through to Byron Bay.

One of the things she appreciated most was the space available for larger caravans, along with the peaceful atmosphere and helpful team on hand to assist during her stay.

It's always wonderful to hear when guests feel comfortable, welcome and already start planning their next visit before they've even left.

Thank you, Andrea, for taking the time to share your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back for that longer stay next time! 😊

This week, the road trip looked a little different.

Frank and Alison headed to Tenterfield for the New England North West Future Tourism Forum. Along the way they found plenty of time to enjoy the winter landscapes, open spaces and country roads that make travelling through our region so special.

One of the things we love most about regional NSW is that every town has its own story to tell. Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones you plan months in advance—they're the places you discover along the way.

Have you ever stumbled across a place that surprised you on a road trip?
