Who thinks it’s ok to use connectors like this to connect the additional position and turn signal lights in a bull bar? I found this recently on a new build vehicle.

Sloppy work like this used to fail a lot but because LED lights use so little current it’s normally only coming to light (pun intended) when the water wickes up the wire into the factory harness. Then it really causes trouble.

Deutsch plugs were made for this, but they cost maybe $30 more on the $1000s job.

Out with the old 80W panel and in with the new Exotronic 250W panel.

Don’t leave people guessing what that wire does! After trying cable numbers for a while we’ve now decided printed heatshrink is the go to for clarity.

More in our “don’t do it like this series”. This trailer wiring got sliced off when it became trapped during a reversing jackknife. Just look at all the joins in the wire already, and the copper showing on the back of the plug.

Don’t do this 🤣. Do it right first time.

For the last 8 weeks we’ve had an array of warning lights on the Van Elec super Skoda. Today I had a rare day to work on my own stuff and there’s a clear instrument cluster once again 🥳

We can fix VAG cars with complex power steering, parking sensor and ESC faults. I still prefer creating off grid happyness for people though.

Now I have to pressure wash the squashed cane toads off the front of the car collected on a wet journey home from Ingham.

Looking forward to getting this project underway. Look at all that space! I guarantee it will soon be full.

This will have a lot of exciting stuff: our DC switching system, remote monitoring, cameras, electric steps, spare wheel winch, big power system and lots more….. Watch this space.

We do the small details properly. Cable joins made strong with appropriate crimps. Why heat-shrink crimps inside? Because any mechanical force is applied to the PVC jacket rather than the joint itself.

I see so many problems resulting from joins done with wrong tools or wrong size terminals. Do it right first time.

Sometimes your trailer lights don’t work very well. It’s best to check and replace your trailer plug if necessary to ensure your lights AND your electric brakes are working well.

Lots of trailers and caravans use LED lights which are far more tolerant of poor wiring than old bulb lights, but electromagnetic brakes are not. Rusty, corroded or dirty terminals are a big safety risk.
