๐Ÿš—๐Ÿช› Repair It Forward 300 Car Fund ๐Ÿช›๐Ÿš—

No one should have to choose between feeding their family & keeping their vehicle safe. Everyone needs help sometimes.
Repair It Forward 300 isnโ€™t about charity; it's about people helping people.
Our goal is to help anyone in our community who may need help in unexpected times.

This is accomplished in two ways

๐Ÿฅ‡1๏ธโƒฃ First, through our $300 Repair It Forward 300 vouchers
๐Ÿฅˆ2๏ธโƒฃ Second, by repairing donated vehicles and giving them to needy members in our community who do not have a vehicle or whose vehicle is beyond repair, for just $150.

๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐Ÿฆ When the Repair It Fund 300 reaches $300 in cash donations, one person will be chosen by the staff from Bakerโ€™s Air Conditioning and Mechanical to receive a $300 voucher to be used within 6 months on any car service or repair at Bakerโ€™s Air Conditioning and Mechanical.

๐Ÿš˜ A vehicle for $150? We use donated cars, utilise volunteer labour, and rely on discounted parts and donations. The $150 cost per car sold helps fund repairs and vouchers in the fund, and the receiver can also help the next person in need. Helping each other in all small ways.

All work is performed here at Bakerโ€™s Air Conditioning and Mechanical after business hours and on weekends by the same faces you see here every day and some other volunteers.

Anyone can submit nominations at any time of the year. When the fund hits $300, all nominations received will be considered for the $300 repair/service voucher; all future nominations will go into the next $300 repair/service voucher giveaway. Each person who nominates someone will also go into the draw to win a $50.00 repair/service voucher, and the person who receives the $300 repair/service voucher for their nominee will also receive a $50.00 repair/service voucher.

๐Ÿ“ To nominate yourself or someone else for the next $300 repair/service voucher

Please include โ€“
Nominee's full name and contact details (phone and email)
Vehicle currently owned
Repairs needed if known
Why you need or believe they may need a helping hand, and could use the $300 repair voucher
Your relationship to the nominee and contact details (phone and email)

And drop your entry into the workshop or email it through to [email protected]

๐Ÿ’ฒ๐Ÿ’ฒ๐Ÿ’ฒ $2.00 from every invoice through the workshop will be donated to the Repair It Forward 300 Fund. Items from our small gifts available in our reception area, we will donate 50% of their proceeds to the Repair It Forward 300 Fund.

๐Ÿ†˜๐Ÿค”โ“โ“Would you like to help too? Donations are welcome: $5, $10, any amount, no matter how large or how small; they all help and add up. Donations can be made in store, over the phone, directly to our account, or by rounding up your invoice when collecting your vehicle.

How you can help โ€“
โ€ข Monetary donations
โ€ข Vehicle donations
โ€ข Donations of new parts to use
โ€ข Donation of the use of car trailers
โ€ข Donations of batteries for recycling
โ€ข If you think you can help in another way, please get in touch with us so we can talk about it

How can I nominate or be nominated to receive a second-hand car for $150?

Now, this is a bigger goal: nominations will be open once we have a car that's been donated and is ready to be donated. This could be in a few weeks, a few months, or a year; it will depend on two things: the receipt of donated cars and how much work needs to be done on them.
So, keep your eyes on our page, and we will post when we have a suitable one that has been donated, can be repaired, and is ready to give away. Then you can start sending in nominations.

๐Ÿš—๐ŸŽ๐Ÿš— Donation of vehicles
We are looking for vehicles that do not require any major engine, transmission or body repairs.
Are you upgrading your car? Donโ€™t need that second car any longer. Deceased estate: they can all help us provide a car for someone in need. Contact us, and we will assess whether it is suitable and cost-effective to repair.
If it is not suitable or cost-effective and you would still like to donate it to us, it will be resold or salvaged, and the funds raised will be used to buy parts for other repairable vehicles or to support the Repair It Forward 300 Fund.
If you need assistance moving it, we can help, but it will take a little more time, as those who help move them do so voluntarily, and we will have to coordinate schedules.

๐Ÿซด๐Ÿซด๐ŸซดHelp us help others, get behind and support Repair It Forward 300, and let's keep as many people as possible safe on our roads. You never know, one day you or someone you know may need a helping hand.
Businesses that would like to be involved in or support the Repair It Forward 300 Fund, please get in touch with us for further information on how you can be part of the team.

๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘€Keep an eye on our page for updates on when nominations are open and closed for the next $300 repair voucher giveaway, when a can has been donated, and for all other events and how we have helped others. Reaching goals, impacting lives, providing hope - Making a difference one repair, one car at a time.

Support will make a huge difference.

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹The time has finally come to say goodbye to this financial year and welcome in the new. What a year it has been, ups and downs, sickness and new staff, but here we are ready to tackle the new financial year. ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ

โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธThank you to all our staff and customers for your ongoing support and patience this year. Your kindness and involvement have truly strengthened our community and made us feel valued and appreciated.

๐ŸŽ‰Now we are ready to tackle the new financial year, which begins today, with a bang, good health, and a focus on expanding our services and community engagement to better serve you and achieve our upcoming goals.

We have exciting new projects starting and others in development. Follow our page to stay inspired by our progress, learn how you can get involved in upcoming community initiatives, and feel motivated about what's ahead for our community and business.

So, what has been happening and what is about to startโ“

๐Ÿฅต One of our senior techs has been in good old hot Queensland helping run a workshop in the back of the never-never for the last four weeks, providing valuable insights into supply chains, different work practices, and how mining companies operate their fleets. The skills and ideas that he has obtained will also benefit our future projects and our work here.

Think it's expensive to have your car looked after in Tasmania, then think again, because double your labour costs and you will be at the start of labour costs out there.

He has learnt so much, gained new skills, and caught up on sleep (since the town is so small and there's not much to do or see), but the best thing is being part of the Repco Authorised Repair Service family; we all help each other out when needed.

He is looking forward to being back on home soil and back to work next Monday. ๐Ÿฅถ

๐Ÿ”งOur technicians are already enjoying another new and upgraded diagnostic scan tool, and now are eagerly awaiting the other new tools and equipment coming so they can enjoy them also. ๐Ÿช›

โฐTimes are getting tough for everyone out there at the moment. As a business, we are here to help you as best we can through those times. We are also everyday people and experience it with other services we use, so we understand it from both a customer and business side.

๐Ÿ›ŸSo, as we all know, our vehicles are our lifeline for getting to work, taking the kids to school, and going shopping, so we need to look after them. But we also need to remember that they are lethal weapons, and you have your family and friends in your car, so you want to keep them safe as well as others on the road.

Please make sure you look after your vehicle and keep it serviced and maintained. Not only can it help with larger repairs needing to be completed due to a lack of servicing, but it can also help with smaller repairs.

REPAIR AND SERVICE SUBSCRIPTION PLAN -

๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฒ Our new Repair and Service Subscription Plan lets you choose a flexible payment option, giving you control and peace of mind for your vehicle's safety and costs.

Keep an eye out here on Facebook, and you can read more about it.

Now, not only will we help you through these tough times, but you can also help others. It's all about people helping people.

Just a reminder: make sure you prioritise repairs on your vehicle. You are out and about in your car with your family, kids, and friends, and you want to keep them as safe as possible.

Don't let your services fall behind.

For each service we undertake on your car, we conduct a full inspection of all components to identify any problems that are showing or starting to show. A report and photos, and then the technician will go through any concerns they see. Most of the time, we can give you an estimate of how long they may last. It also depends on where and how you drive your vehicle.

Technicians undergo years of training, and workshops offer a wide range of tools, equipment, and diagnostic skills to look after your vehicles. They do come at a great cost. Just a spanner or socket can cost over $30.00 each. Add that up for how many different cars are out in the market and how many different tools are needed, and it is not cheap and adds up fast, and cars are changing daily, so tools need to be constantly updated also.

So, when you think you are paying a lot for a $300 plus service on your vehicle once or twice a year, it isn't that much when you think you are behind the wheel of a lethal piece of equipment - your car, and you have loved ones on board.

Add up the takeaways, the treatments, the outings, the smokes, the drinks, the clothes, etc., that you purchase over the year, and they would come to much more than you would spend on your car a year. Break that down to weekly/daily, is it really that expensive to look after your car and your loved ones each year?

Drive safely, and please don't let this happen to you or the ones you love.

We have had so many cars come in with warning lights on, some driven in which have caused more problems to the car. Some repairs not cheap either by them doing so.

If your not sure if you can drive it cell and speak to one of our technicians before you do.

A GUIDE TO WARNING LIGHTS AND SYMBOLS

The modern vehicle dashboard is a complex array of lights, symbols, and gauges, designed to convey vital information to the driver. However, the sheer volume and variety of these indicators can be overwhelming, leaving many motorists unsure of what they mean or how to respond when they illuminate. This comprehensive guide is designed to demystify the dashboard, providing a clear and concise explanation of the warning lights and symbols that appear, empowering drivers to take control of their vehicle's maintenance and safety. By understanding the language of their car's dashboard, drivers can identify potential issues before they become major problems, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and enjoy a more confident and informed driving experience.

๐Ÿ”ง: FOG LIGHTS :
We'll start with a dash light that isn't technically a warning light. The fog light symbol looks a lot like the one used for the regular headlights, albeit with a squiggly line in front of it instead of three lines that look like beams. Not all cars come equipped with fog lights, though, so it's possible you'll never see this dashboard light during the course of vehicle ownership.

๐Ÿ”งLOW TYRE PRESSURE:
Modern cars come with tire pressure monitoring systems and the little exclamation point inside of a half-circle merely means one or more of your tyres have low pressure. If you see this sign don't freak out. Instead, find a safe place to stop and inspect your tyres. If they look a bit low, carefully make your way to the nearest petrol station to fill them with air. On most cars, this light will go away on its own after you've topped the tyres up.

๐Ÿ”ง: ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT:
Cars have been able to monitor their engine's oil pressure for years now. If you've seen what looks like a gravy boat light pop up in your dash it means there's a problem with your engine oil pressure. Without sufficient oil pressure, the engine can't properly lubricate itself. That can lead to major mechanical problemsโ€”the engine could seize and leave you stranded. As a result, it's best if you get this checked out right away.

๐Ÿ”ง: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT :
The check engine light means that one of the many sensors monitoring your car has noticed a problem with the engine. It can be anything from a spark plug fault to the failure of something major such as the intake manifold or low compression. Unless you're really handy, you should leave a fix like this to a mechanic you trust. Either way, if you see the check engine light on your dash, something's gone wrong and you shouldn't put off a trip to the shop. The sooner you can fix it, the better.

๐Ÿ”ง: TRACTION OR STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT:
Most cars with traction or stability control allow you to turn these functions off. If you see what looks like the rear view of an old sedan followed by some squiggly lines on the road behind it, then that means your stability control system is either partially or fully off. This means one of two things has happened here: Either you turned the function off because you wanted to do some sporty driving (turn it back on, you're not Lewis Hamilton ) or the feature has failed altogether. It's safest to let the computer think about traction for you, so find a way to get it back on ASAP.

๐Ÿ”ง: COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT:
If you see a little thermometer pop up in your dash, that means your car is probably overheating. There are a number of things that could have happened, but the best thing to do is stop the car and wait a good long while for the engine to cool down by itself. Next, grab a rag, pop the hood, and use the rag to lift the lid of the coolant reservoir and check the coolant level. If your car is so hot the engine, coolant reservoir, or coolant tank is "smoking," then you might want to call a tow service.

๐Ÿ”ง: BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT:
In the event that you see an exclamation mark with a circle around it in your dash, that means something is wrong with your brakes. There may be a problem with brake components or the hydraulic fluid may need a top-off. Stop the car and call a tow truck as soon as you safely can. Driving without a fully functioning brake system is dangerous (not to mention totally nuts) and should be fixed as soon as possible.

๐Ÿ”ง: ABS SENSOR WARNING LIGHT:
Although it is related to the braking system, the ABS warning light does not signal a failure of the physical brakes. Instead, this signals an issue with the anti-lock brake system. It's likely that if you stop too hard with this light on, then your car's brakes may lock up, which could make it a struggle to come to a full stop. It's best to take your car to a shop in this case, as ABS is one of the most important safety enhancements in cars since the seatbelt was invented .

๐Ÿ”ง: AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT:
All cars have airbags these days. It's federally mandated (as it should be), and sometimes you'll see an airbag warning light in your dash. This light can mean a number of things. It can indicate a problem with any number of items, including the sensors that detect crashes and deploy airbags in the event of an accident have failed. If this light pops up on your dash consistently, then it's time to take your car to a shop for a lookover.

๐Ÿ”ง: BATTERY LIGHT:
If you see a little red battery on your dash, then that means you're currently powering your car on the battery alone. When the engine isn't on, the alternator isn't actively charging the battery. That means eventually you'll drain the battery and you'll likely need a jumpstart to get you going again. If this light is on while your car's engine is on, then it's typically a sign that the battery charging system isn't working. In that case, you're going to have to take your car somewhere to get the problem diagnosed.

๐Ÿ”ง: UNLOCK GEAR SELECTOR LIGHT:
This green shoe is inside the usual symbol for brake-related itemsโ€”a circle with small arcs at the three and nine o'clock positions that represent an old-time brake drum and shoesโ€”and is found only on vehicles with automatic transmissions. It's telling the driver they need to step on the brakes to unlock the gear selector before moving it from the park position. Once a foot is pressed on the brake pedal, it should go out.

๐Ÿ”ง: LOW FUEL LIGHT
If this light is illuminated, it's time to stop for fuel, as your vehicle is running low. In some vehicles, exactly when this light comes on is determined by a set amount of fuel remaining in the tank; in others, the car's computer will use fuel remaining and recent driving behavior to predict that you may run out of fuel soon. Finally, this function can occasionally be handled by a simple light rather than an icon.

๐Ÿ”ง: DIESEL GLOW PLUG ACTIVE
This curlicue is specific to diesel-powered vehicles and indicates the glow plugs are active. The glow plugs are used to warm the air in the cylinder prior to ignition, as the metal internals can absorb the heat of the fuel/air compression cycle and cause a failure to start. (Diesels do not have spark plugs like gasoline vehicles and rely on the heat from compression to facilitate combustion.) Once this light turns off, you can start your vehicle. If it's blinking, there may be a malfunction in the glow-plug system.

Well school holidays have been on and the team have been very busy beavers while the kids have been out of the buses.

There is so much more than just a gs and go on any air conditioning system, whether car, bus or truck.

Did you know a gas and go is actually illegal to do? Both the technician and the owner of the business can be fined quiet highly.

Now come to buses there is so many components to the air conditioning system, from fans to motors, pipes to electrical and all the in-between.

So next time your on a bus and enjoying the cold air just think of how much is involved and the skills and training our technicians go through, many many years.
