Wednesday Ride Report – 17th June 2026 (Mulwala)

Roads today were a little damp but it doesn’t stop those seeking a bit of adventure to head out for a morning ride.
Plan today was to head to the Mulwala Bakery for a bite and return at a leisurely pace.
Whilst it was great to see so many members present at BF’s, we only had 4 names on the list initially but Chris and at last minute Lawrence joined us which was great to see. There are also a number of members away at present so hopefully enjoying the warmer climate of the North.
We departed a little before 10 before regrouping on Plunkett’s Rd continuing through the Logistics Centre leading us through Rutherglen.
We picked up on Jones Swamp Rd taking us via Peachelba East and then linked up with the Wang-Yarrawonga Rd to take us through Yarrawonga.
Surprisingly enough, the Main St of Yarrawanga was reasonably busy so we took our time to make it across the Murray and onto the Mulwala Bakery.
We returned via NSW but a couple of us (me included) took a right turn at the Federation Bridge to make our own way home along the VIC side.
Today's run engaged a number of straight roads unfortunately but that is what this time of year brings. However, any Ride is better than no Ride.

Sunday Ride Report – 14th June 2026 (Presidents Ride - Corryong)

If Plan “A” doesn’t work, then you need to come up with Plan “B”, and in some cases, quickly – Right!
I had to do some quick thinking where to head so Plan “B” was put into play due to today’s conditions.
However, with heavy rain overnight and a foggy start to the day I was not even sure if we were going anywhere. I cut the ride short by avoiding Granya Gap and the also cutting out the run between Shelly and Walwa so decided that we would head straight to Walwa along the Murray River Rd.
Blue alerted us to the fact that Dave (Honda ST1100) was going to join us so we waited at the end of Rapsey’s Rd before continuing over the Bethanga Bridge towards Walwa.
We were not going to be breaking any speed records today as the roads were extremely damp.
Once past the Granya exit, we pulled over about 5 kms past the turn off so that we could regroup before continuing on.
Walwa was the next stop to for those that have the need to take some tension off the bladder (me included) where we then continued through to Corryong. The Café that we intended to use was closed so lucky enough we were able to get grab a coffee and a pie (or whatever) at the local Bakery.
The roads were certainly starting to dry our but wet patches in shaded area’s still means that one needs to remain cautious. We departed for the run home along the Murray Valley Hwy but took a detour onto Bryant’s Gap Rd taking us into Sandy Creek.
From here, it was the traditional run along Maher’s Rd where we then pulled over for a departure chat before making our separate ways home.
Today was more enjoyable ride that I expected, despite the damp conditions but we just had to take extra caution to adjust to the conditions.

Wednesday Ride Report: 6th May 2026 (Beechworth)

Autumn always brings out the best colours so a run up Stanley from Myrtleford was part of today's agenda.
Weather was cooling but still made for enjoyable riding.
Once briefing was over, we had 9 Enthusiastic Riders departing before a little before 10:00am.
We ensured that Mahers Rd was not left out only to head down the Kiewa Valley highway. I pulled over on the Dederang Rd to allow us to regroup before connecting with Tunnel Gap Rd.
We then made our way to the Myrtleford - Stanley Rd to enjoy the run up the hill where we regrouped outside the Stanley Pub taking the opportunity to take a few pics.. Being the time of year, the Autumn colours are absolutely amazing.
Front here, it was just a leisurely run into Beechworth to the Bakery.
The run from here was pretty much straight back to Wodonga or Albury as in some cases.
Not a long ride for today but very enjoyable taking in mother nature amongst the Autumn colours.
I will not be available of the next few weeks as I am heading North to the AGM but Terry will lead during that period. I am guessing by the time that I get back that winter will have started which will mean riding on roads that have less twisties reducing the potential for riding on damp patches (hopefully) making for safer riding.

Stay Safe Everyone and see you on my return.

Wednesday Ride Report: 29th Apr 2026 (Lake Mulwala)

Well, the weather gods have looked after us again and with a forecast high of 25, we need to ensure that we need to make the most out of the amazing weather that we have been experiencing.
Today we had planned to head to the Lake Mulwala Bakery but with a dog leg planned at Corowa.
Today was one of the largest turnout for a mid week ride with 14 riders ready to venture out so I decided that corner marking today would be mandatory.
We regrouped on Plunketts Rd before heading past the logistics Centre and then continued towards Howlong where we crossed the border into NSW only to continue along the Riverina Hwy. At one stage, I was starting to become a little concerned if we would ever connect with the Riverina but finally it appeared in the distance. As a Ride Leader, you do start to wonder if you get it wrong sometimes.
Once arriving in Corowa, we turned right at the second roundabout onto Bow St which connects with Redlands Rd providing a few sweepers to break any boredom and helps keep us awake. I did spend a bit of timing planning this ride the previous night I was trying to add a bit of interest noting that this run is also new to me as well.
We eventually connected with the Riverina Hwy and 3.5 kms later, we were Southbound heading back towards Lake Mulwala along Bull Plain Rd.
The Lake Mulwala Bakery offers a great selection of food making available plenty of seating which is ideal for groups of our size. Its a bit of a shame that the roads are so straight just to get here.
After lunch, the plan was to head back along Spring Drive towards Corowa. Upon entering Cowroa, a number of the NSW Riders continued home North of the border while the VIC Riders crossed the Murray to connect with the Murray River Rd for the remainder of the journey. However, 5 of us decided to take a left turn to check out a camping site to consider as a future place to chill out with the caravan.
Today's run received a few compliments which were appreciated and as we all know, there are only so many locations that you can go within our allotted time frame so trying to vary the route does strain the Memory Banks a little. If anyone has a great idea for a ride, please feel free to share this with us.
Thank you to everyone today for a great ride. Not sure if the weather will be as kind next week but certainly looking forward to another variation to one of our many locations.

Wednesday Ride Report: 22nd Apr 2026 (Bright)
I have started to get into the habit of taking pics to include with my ride reports but apology up front because I forgot to take any so this report will be brief.
Perfect weather (as with most days at this time of year) so after a quick briefing we departed through Kallara only to connect with Gundowring Rd.
Once we joined onto the Kiewa Valley Hwy, we then headed towards Tawonga but only to take a diversion through Mt Beauty exiting at Ryders Lane. This is a relatively new run for me and whilst limited to 80kph, it does have some enjoyable corners on it.
We pulled over in Mt Beauty for a quick regroup before continuing to the Tawonga Gap. This can be a fun run provided there is no traffic but once you get caught behind a car, you are pretty much stuck there until well over the other side. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened as I caught up with a car 3/4 up the climb.
We stopped at GumTree Pies in Bright and despite being very busy, we managed a bite and a chat.
We departed through the back way only to connect with the Great Alpine Rd and then exiting at Ovens picking up Happy Valley Rd.
Carrolls Rd can have the ability to bring back the youth in the more adventurous riders BUT care still required on some of the tighter corners and need to keep the eyes open for wildlife.
Casual run took us through the back of Yack before heading home along the Beechworth Rd.
Todays run was joined by 9 Riders and the weather does not get any better than today.
Any thoughts on where you would like to head next week? Let me know.

Wednesday Ride Report: 15th Apr 2026 (Mita Mitta)

OK, we have been everywhere Man, locally that is. So we consider another variation to the our end destination being Mitta Mitta via Dartmouth which was about to be tested (and no doubt tried before).
9 Riders were to join us today although there were a couple turning off early in which we were advised and appreciated.
Departure was 5 mins early as we headed towards Tamgambalanga, through Sandy Creek and then great run across the top of Lockharts Gap only to be held up by a Semi on the downhill stretch. Can’t get lucky all of the time.
We had only been on the Omeo Hwy for about 3 mins when a Truck coming from the opposite direction was across the white line heading towards us. Initial reaction was to hit the brakes and vere hard to the left. The rider behind me also focused heavily on the truck also came very close to my rear but I understand how easy it is to do this.
I was a little agitated by the Semi’s actions but quickly got my mind back on track focussing on the ride only to lead the group through Eskdale to pick up another Semi hoping that he would NOT turn off the Mitta North Ride and yep, they did.
Passing on the Mitta North Rd has it’s complications due to the narrow width of the Road and as you need to remember, it is not just the Ride Leader that needs to get passed but all 9 bikes of which one was is a Cam Am Spyder. Lucky enough for us, the Semi pulled over allowing all of us to get past.
We continued along the Dartmouth Rd to then take the exit up towards the Dam Wall where we stopped for about 10 mins to enjoy the views along with a few pics before continuing into the Mitta General Store. Lunch was as expected although there was only one staff member on this particular day but we all managed to get a bite to eat.
The run home was back via Lockharts and Mahers Rd before we all made our way home.
Today was warmer with weather near perfect compared to the prior weekend (thank goodness) and I was a little more prepared BUT rest assured, the cooler weather is starting to sneak in.
Thanks to all who enjoyed the day and also Blue for sharing some pics.

Sunday Monthly Branch Ride Report: 12th Apr 2026 (Mystery Ride)

Today was going to be a lot cooler than expected as we learned as the day went on but never the less, there were 8 brave Riders ready to tackle the elements.
Paul was leading todays ride today and briefing commenced at 9:15am for a 9:30 departure in which were on time.
Whilst Lawrence was Tail End Charlie, Paul did announce at the briefing that we would not use Corner Marker and surprisingly enough, it was not needed as rear riders remained visible throughout the entire ride
We turned onto Pearce St taking us down Feltimber leading us over into Cookinburra to the intersection at Indigo Creek Rd where we turned left.
After turning right off off Indigo Creek Rd, we headed South along the Wodonga-Beechworth Rd. We then veered left at the Roundabout to take us through Yackandanda where we then picked up Racecourse Rd taking us into Osborne Flat.
We made a right onto Wallace Rd which then led us onto Allans Flat Road where we connected with Kiewa Vally Hwy only to the pull in for a pitstop at Kiewa Cricket Ground (must be the cold weather).
We then continued and ventured along Mahers Rd for a run into Bonegilla only to turn right to Kookaburra Point for a quick pic overlooking the Weir. Note that the lake is still extremely low sitting at 25.77% (as of today).
We then continued through the Trout Farm taking a left turn at the Hume Resort back towards Albury. We then picked up Kerrs Rd, left turn past Thurgoona Golf Club and then a right turn onto Table top Rd.
We crossed the Hwy to only take an immediate left onto Tynan Rd. From here we headed North only to make a left onto Dights Forest Rd and upon entering Jindera we decided to pull over for another pic.
We then made our way back to Wodonga via Springdale Heights picking up the Hume Hwy at the Thurgoona Drive on ramp.
It was agreed earlier that we would make our way back to GumTree Pies for a bite to support local business. Little did we know but 1/2 of Wodonga was there but thankfully the queue moved quickly. For those that do not know, Gumtree Pies have entered into Voluntary Administration earlier this week and have become a local Icon within the region and well known for their quality pies.
Whilst Paul kept today ride shorter than normal (155kms), I actually appreciated shortened ride as it was one of the coldest days that I have experienced but is was my own fault for not having on the right motorbike gear. A lesson for all of us.
Thanks Paul for another enjoyable ride.

Wednesday Ride Report: 8th Apr 2026 (Mt Beauty)

Another near perfect day and not to be wasted as rain has been forecast for the following day so someone is looking after our weather concerns.
At last count, we had 9 riders registered for todays run which has been the recent average for a Wednesday Ride.
Departure about 5 mins early where we took the opportunity to regroup before heading South on the Beechworth - Wodonga Rd.
At the Yack turnoff (Roundabout) we made a left turn to head towards Yack but only to turn off to allow us to take the back streets to reconnect with the Mytleford - Yack Rd.
We then connected with Dederang Rd taking us back to Dederang before turning onto Kiewa Valley Hwy.
From here, it was a smooth run taking us into Tawonga and just for something different, we made a left turn at Ryders Lane which is an alternative route into Mt Beauty. Despite most of this road being restricted to 80 kph, it does come with a few enjoyable corners. Ryders Lane then connects with Damms Rd which then gave us a final stretch into the Cafe at Mt Beauty where we all took time out for a bite.
So the start of homeward run was the reverse of in-bound to Towonga taking Damms Rd where a left turn connects with Ryders Lane. We then joined onto the Kiewa Vally Hwy for the run home.
We turned onto Red Bank Mogans Bridge Rd which is the turning point for a friendly run along Gundowring Rd which concludes at Lockharts Gap Rd. We then made our way into Tamgambalanga.
Blue and I continued straight ahead to join Kiewa Valley Hwy whilst others turned off at Mahers Rd before making their own way home.
Today’s ride provided for an earlier than normal arrival returning home around 1:00pm despite still managing to achieve 185kms.
This time next week my R1250GS should click over 40,000kms and whilst it is a small amount of kms for these bikes, the bike has proven to exceed my expectations on all angles (with no issues - touch wood) so probably hang onto it for another 20 years (not sure about 20 as I have a bit more riding left in me yet).
PLEASE NOTE that as of the last Committee meeting (Bill also advised also at the recent Social Meeting) that we have decided to upload our rides to the Ulysses Albury-Wodonga FB Page. Should anyone NOT wish to have their pics shown, then please advise us so that we can honour your wishes. Dennis

Wednesday Ride Report: 1st Apr 2026 (Beechworth).

Another great forecast on the horizon for a Ride so today we were heading to Beechworth but going ”The Long Way Round”.
We did have a visitor at at Blind Freddy’s just prior to our departure which caught me out as well but it was Chris Grogan dressed up as a Hobo and did a great job. Take note that it was the 1st April (April Fools Day). Well Done Chris.
Briefing taken place on time at 9:45 and with 9 Riders in tow, we were out before 10:00am heading down Feltimber Creek Rd. This is NOT one of James’s favourite roads by any means but this was the hardest stretch for him.
We made a right turn onto Indigo Creek Rd and into Barnawartha where I did pull over allowing us all to regroup.
From here, it was a relaxing run through Chiltern where we continued on to Rutherglen.
We then turned hard left onto the Rutherglen - Springhurst Rd taking us across the Hume to then make a right turn to join Benton Rd which runs parallel to the Hwy. We did NOT require corner markers for most of the ride (as we did remain pretty much together) provided I could remain in contact with Tail End Charlie (Bill A).
We then continued along Carragarmungee Estate Rd through to Tarrawingee where we then made our way along River Rd towards Markwood.
From there we travelled along the Snow Rd to make our way through to Gapsted followed by a left turn onto the Great Alpine Rd.
Last run up the Buckland Gap before arriving at Beechworth Bakery. However I held back the power setting a little along the Gap Rd to create a large enough gap between us and the van in the distance so that we could enjoy the corners BUT caught the vehicle halfway up the Gap - Can’t always get lucky I guess.
Arriving at the Bakery can make it a bit tricky for parking but there was enough space for all of us to find a spot outside the bakery.
Great opportunity during lunch for a catchup chat and then we pretty much rode back together as a group before making our own way home from Wodonga.
Today’s run was just a relaxing cruise but also enjoyable as the weather provided near perfect riding conditions.
Thanks to Blue for the Pics that he took at BF’s before departing (because the Ride Leader forgot to take any).
