Alberta Farmers' Day — June 12, 2026
Celebrated in Alberta for over 110 years, Farmers' Day began in 1914 as a tradition honouring agriculture and the seeding of the last crop. In 1951, Premier Ernest Manning's proclaimed Friday, June 8 a school holiday in recognition of farmers. That tradition carried on for many years, with the Alberta government designating one Friday each June as a Farmers' Holiday.
Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our farm communities and the incredible contribution they make to agriculture across the province.
