It is with profound sadness that Laird Raceway shares the passing of flagman, Doug MacLean, following an on-track incident that occurred during a feature event at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, July 18.

Our thoughts and prayers go out the Doug’s family and everyone impacted during this difficult time.

Out of respect for Doug's family and loved ones, there will not be any other sharing of additional details at this time. We ask that everyone keep Doug's family, friends, fellow officials, competitors, and the entire racing community in their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Doug was a valued member of the racing family, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

After the cancellation of the July 16th Thursday Night Thunder program due to poor air quality caused by forest fires north of Algoma, short track racing is set to return to the 1/3-mile D-shaped oval at Laird Raceway on Thursday, July 23. Fans can expect another exciting evening of racing, with green flag scheduled to drop just after 7:00 p.m. In addition to a full night of action featuring the track's weekly racing divisions, the July 23 program will also include the always popular Spectator Drags, giving fans the opportunity to take their own vehicles onto the track and compete head-to-head.
