Customer came in for his annual ceramic coating inspection today 👀
After winter, it’s completely normal for coatings to become “clogged” from salt, minerals, and environmental fallout — so we performed a reset wash to bring the coating back to life.
What we also noticed though were etched water spots and bird dropping stains that had been sitting on the surface for quite some time. A lot of people think ceramic coatings make paint invincible, but that’s not the case.
Ceramic coatings absolutely make maintenance easier, but contaminants can still etch if left too long — just like they would on bare clear coat. The difference is they first attack the top layer of the coating itself. Once etching occurs, polishing becomes the only true correction method.
This is exactly why annual inspections matter. It gives us the opportunity to inspect the paint, decontaminate the surface, reset the coating, and educate clients on proper maintenance before permanent damage occurs 👌
A few quick ceramic coating maintenance reminders👇
• Wash every 2–3 weeks
• Remove bird droppings & bug splatter ASAP
• Don’t let hard water dry on the surface
• Avoid automatic brush washes
• Hand dry the vehicle after washing
• Ceramic coatings are resistant — not stain proof
Maintenance is what keeps a coating performing its best for years 🔥
