Safety must always be the top priority in the shop.

When inflating a passenger or light truck tire on a tire machine, technicians should always stand outside the trajectory zone of the tire and wheel assembly. Standing in the trajectory of the assembly during inflation can put you at serious risk.

If a tire, wheel, bead, or other component fails, separates, or releases the contained air pressure unexpectedly, it can result in severe injury or even death.

✅ Always follow proper inflation procedures.
✅ Inspect tires and wheels before inflation.
✅ Use the correct equipment.
✅ Stay out of the trajectory zone during inflation.
✅ Never take shortcuts when it comes to safety.

A few extra seconds spent following safety procedures can prevent a life-changing accident.

Remember: Tires can be replaced. People cannot.

Why are the DOT numbers on tires important? 🛞

The DOT number tells you critical information about the tire, including when and where it was manufactured. This helps you:

🔴Check the tire’s age
⚫️Verify safety and quality standards
⚪️ Know if the tire is affected by a recall
🔴 Make sure you’re not driving on expired or unsafe tires

The last 4 digits of the DOT code show the week and year the tire was made
Example: 4020= the tire was manufactured in the 40th week of 2020.
