It's National Donut Day! π₯―
Did you know that donut day originated in 1838 as a fundraiser for The Salvation Army during the Great Depression, aiming to help those in need while honouring the women who provided donuts to soldiers in WW1. These women, known as βDoughnut Lassiesβ served donuts and coffee to boost the morale of the soldiers on the front lines. The tradition of donut day continues to symbolize comfort and care.
This year and Salvation Army Listowel - Church & Community Services teamed up for the Red Raspberry Salvation Army Donut!
