We've seen some pretty frightening things on the side of the road... and we're not talking about ghosts and goblins! 😂

From mysterious noises in the dark to roadside surprises that make you look twice, sometimes our night shifts feel like they're straight out of a Halloween movie! 👀

Whether you're out trick-or-treating or travelling Alberta's highways tonight, keep your eyes open, watch for little ghosts and goblins, and drive safely!

🧡 Remember, the scariest thing on the road shouldn't be someone failing to slow down and move over!

Travelling along Highway 22 ➡️ Highway 533 W ➡️ Highway 2

👀 Highway 2 - Bare & Dry

👀 Highway 533 West : coming from Nanton is bare/dry until Range Road 295

👀 Range Road 295/Hwy 533 to Highway 22 : Snow covered both lanes (especially around Magnetic Hill) roads do improve. There are signs for a cattle drive - UNKNOWN HOW LONG IT TAKES just be cautious in the area!

👀 Highway 22 South from Chain Lakes : roads are in decent condition! ** SB lanes is snow covered after Volker Stevin Yard

👀 Highway 22 North from Chain Lakes : roads partially covered, not bad, plows are out. Near Highway 532 (Indian Graves) its a bit more snow covered but briefly.

A beautiful Southern Alberta sunset and another roadside recovery in the books.

A special thank you to the motorists travelling along Highway 547 this evening who slowed down and gave our crew the space they needed to work safely.

Those few extra seconds of patience make a world of difference to the people working along our highways.

Gravel roads as far as the eye can see, towing adventures in the middle of nowhere, and the occasional oversized forest puppy! 🐻🚛🌲

Mother Nature appears to be testing everyone’s aerodynamics today!

🚗 Cars: If you’re driving sideways, that’s not a new alignment feature.

🚛 Semis: You’re hauling freight, not auditioning for a sailing competition. Reduce your speed and stay alert for sudden crosswinds, Especially those pulling empty or lightly loaded trailers, know your limits. If conditions are unsafe, PARK IT!

🚐 Travel Trailers: If your trailer starts trying to pass your truck, it’s probably time to reconsider the trip. 😂

All jokes aside, Southern Alberta is under a wind warning today, and strong crosswinds can be especially hazardous for high-profile vehicles and anyone towing a trailer.

Slow down, keep both hands on the wheel, leave extra following distance, and avoid sudden steering movements. If conditions become unsafe, pull over in a safe location or postpone travel until the wind eases.

Stay safe, Southern Alberta. Keep the rubber side down and make it home today!
