This evening around 18:30, one of our firefighters alerted our group of several small ditch fires that he came upon west of town along the highway that he and some community members were trying to put out but were struggling due to the wind and heat. Members started responding to the hall till we were toned out from dispatch.
Nine members responded with two units and worked with passerby’s to get the fires out. Cause is uncertain at this point and is being looked into.
Thank you to motorists for slowing down and pulling over to let us work safely! Us and our families appreciate it! Once again our community members and people passing by were quick to start doing what they could with what they had to contain the fires, which left us with a-lot less work thankfully!
Thank you members for dropping your day and leaving your dinner tables to help protect our community!

We would like to just to post a friendly reminder that should you come upon a fire that no one is around and appears to not be controlled or if there is a fire ban on, Please call 911 directly and not a local firefighter. We are dispatched through PECC (911), so when calling a local fire fighter, it actually slows the process down of an alert being sent to the whole department to get our wheels turning! Please like and share to get the word out!

Yesterday afternoon shortly after 5:30, we were dispatched to a grass fire one mile west of town. Six members responded with two units to find a small area of grass and bush burning. With the help from a couple people passing by, it was brought under control and extinguished with no damage to anything. We would like to thank the guys that stopped and helped out, many hands make light work! Thank you sask power for a quick response to the scene!

Just a friendly reminder to have a look at your controlled burns that you have done during the past winter! With the warmer weather comes the chance of your burns re igniting if they arent right out. A bit of time spent checking now could save you and us a whole lot of time down the road!
