Hearing a squeal when braking doesn't automatically mean your brakes have failed.
Some brake pads have built-in wear indicators designed to make noise when the pads are getting low. Other noises can come from surface rust, debris, worn hardware or more significant brake wear.

Tread depth isn't the only thing that determines whether a tire should stay on your vehicle.
Technicians also look for cracking, uneven wear, bulges, punctures and signs of alignment or suspension problems. A tire with plenty of tread can still need attention if the rubber has deteriorated or the wear pattern is abnormal.

A check engine light doesn't always mean the engine itself is failing.
The light can be triggered by systems related to fuel delivery, emissions, ignition, airflow or sensors. Even something such as a loose fuel cap can sometimes trigger a fault code.
The diagnostic code is only the starting point. A proper diagnosis determines why the code appeared rather than simply replacing the part mentioned in the code.
