Three generations of Griffith dads have opened these bay doors. The tools changed, the trucks changed, the highway got busier, but the name on the sign is still the family standing behind the work.

Happy Father's Day, to Kerry, Andrew and Matthew. To the dads in our shop, and to every dad in Almaguin who taught someone to take care of what gets them home.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹...and gravel is hard on your alignment.

Washboard, potholes, the soft shoulder you ride to let a logging truck pass: it all nudges your wheels out of true. You feel it as a pull to one side, or you spot it later as tires worn down on one edge long before their time.

An alignment check takes a few minutes and makes a set of tires last a lot longer- a lot cheaper than the tires you'd be replacing early.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱'𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗷𝗼𝗯. We didn't.

The pads had life left and the rotors just needed cleaning up.... a fraction of the price, and honest. It would've been easy to sell the bigger ticket. But we'll tell you what it actually is, not what it isn't, and if it doesn't need fixing yet, we'll tell you that too.

That's the part that hasn't changed up here in three generations. It's also why people drive through several other towns to get here.

𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝟯𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗸𝗺𝘀? It's mostly boring stuff, done on time.

The cars that last up here aren't the fancy ones, they're the ones whose owners caught the small things early. So before you load up Friday: 𝗢𝗻𝗲, tire pressure with the car loaded, not empty in the driveway. 𝗧𝘄𝗼, coolant level and a quick look at the hoses; summer heat plus a full car is when cooling systems show their age. 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲, make sure the spare actually has air in it. (Most don't.)

None of that is glamorous. It's just what keeps a car on the road for twenty years instead of ten.

This is ours, in the bay, getting looked after so it's ready when Highway 11 gets busy. Because summer means more cars on the road and more of them a long way from home when something lets go and that call is exactly the one we take all season.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and a car full of groceries, headed for the cottage.

The spring was going to take us a bit. So while the car was up on the hoist, she got a lift to her place, groceries and all and picked the car up later, fixed properly.

That's not a policy. It's just what you do for a neighbour who's stuck. Sixty-some years up here, and the job's never really only been about the car.

𝗜𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺.
Cold, it ran perfect. Ten minutes down Highway 11 and it showed us its true colours!

Those are the fun ones. The problem that won't show itself while it's sitting on the hoist. So we drove it, watched the data, and let it misbehave on our terms instead of yours. Turned out to be one sensor doing a bad job of reporting the truth.

Half the job is just being patient enough to catch it. Three generations in, that part hasn't changed.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗖- the time to fix it is before you need it.

If it's slow to cool, blowing warm, or smells a little off when it kicks on, that's the system telling you something now, in June, while it's a cheap fix. A small refrigerant leak or a tired compressor caught this month is a fraction of what it costs when you're sitting in July heat with a baby in the back seat.

It also does more than keep you comfortable. Your AC pulls humidity out of the cabin, which keeps the windows clear and you sharp on a long drive.

Before you load up and point the car in any direction, give yourself five minutes in the driveway. Tire pressure (including the spare), washer fluid, a quick look under the front end for anything dripping. Most of what strands people up here is something that was quietly building for weeks.

If something feels off, a pull, a noise, a light — we'd rather catch it here than have you catch it on the shoulder of Highway 11.
