Ah the stories I am hearing. " I bought a used RV. The owner said it is in excellent condition. Now I have all of these unseen-when-I-bought-it problems." " I wish there could have been someone to inspect it before I bought it."
Well, guess what? There IS an inspector near you. Since the beginning of this year's camping season, I have spoken with several people who were buying a new-to-them RV. They thought they were getting great deals.... until they got them home and actually looked really close at their purchase. Water damage, electrical problems, flooring rotted, faucets don't work right, etc., etc....
I have heard these same stories from my own family members because they trusted a seller and thought they were getting a great deal.
Now most of us are honest people here. But there are those who are trying to offload their problem. Just because they say it is in great condition doesn't mean it really is in great condition. But, to be fair, some sellers don't know that there are problems with their RVs before they sell them. It may not have been used for a couple of seasons.
You are buying a brand new RV you say? Well that's great!
But be warned. Just because it is brand new doesn't mean it doesn't have problems. The RV industry is poorly regulated. They push these units out of the manufacturing door as fast as possible. There IS going to be problems.
I had a fellow inspector recently inspect a brand new 2022 unit. By the time he finished his inspection there were 6 Life Safety issues, 23 minor issues and 4 major issues. And that is your brand new unit.
Please people. Don't get taken by the, "It's in perfect condition" rap.
Have your future purchase inspected before you sign that dotted line. It will save you thousands of dollars if you do.
Have a great, safe, and happy camping season.
