A customer contacted Aberdeen Auto Repair this week after noticing their brakes were juddering, almost as if the ABS was activating every time they slowed down.

The first step was a road test to confirm the fault. Once back in the workshop, we carried out a full inspection and quickly identified the cause…

⚠️ Heavily corroded rear brake discs.

After discussing our findings with the customer, we recommended replacing the rear brake discs and pads to safely rectify the issue.

Another Mini Cooper S back on the road after receiving its annual full service here at Aberdeen Auto Repair.

🚨 “It’s just a knocking noise… I’ll get it looked at next week.” 🚨

This is exactly why you shouldn’t ignore noises that are getting worse.

We were called out to this vehicle after the customer had been driving it despite hearing a knocking noise that had progressively become louder.

After removing the wheel, we found the cause…

❌ Wheel nuts had worked loose
❌ The wheel had been moving on the hub
❌ Studs and wheel mounting holes were damaged
❌ The wheel was on the verge of coming off completely

The shiny marks around the wheel bolt holes tell the story – the wheel had been moving around while driving and was only a short distance away from becoming a serious accident.

Thankfully, the customer called before it was too late.

🔧🚗 Sunday Call Out – Fixed by Monday Morning! 🚗🔧

We don’t usually do weekend call-outs, but one of our regular customers found themselves stuck with a non-starting vehicle and needed a hand.

After carrying out diagnostics, we quickly identified the issue as a failed starter motor. In this case, the failure had been caused by a previous oil leak, which had contaminated the starter motor over time and eventually caused it to stop working.

Fortunately, the replacement part was available straight away, and we returned first thing Monday morning to fit it at the customer’s home address.

✅ Diagnosed on Sunday
✅ Starter motor replaced Monday morning
✅ No recovery fees required
✅ Back on the road with minimal disruption

🚨 ANOTHER DANGEROUS FAULT FOUND TODAY 🚨

Aberdeen Auto Repair was called out today after a customer reported a knocking noise coming from their vehicle.

Upon inspection, we discovered that one of the brake caliper retaining bolts was completely missing. This had allowed the brake caliper to move, causing the knocking noise and creating a potentially dangerous situation.

Had this gone unnoticed, it could have resulted in serious brake system failure, damage to the braking components, or even loss of braking performance.

✅ New brake caliper bolt supplied and fitted
✅ Brake assembly checked and secured
✅ Vehicle inspected for further damage
✅ Customer safely back on the road

We’ve had a busy this week so not managed to get many photos!

We had this Hyundai i30 in this week for a fuel tank replacement due to being corroded and leaking fuel!

We managed to source a new tank, drain the old tank get it replaced and refilled at the customers home address!
