CHANGES TO THE DRIVING TEST (from 09/06/2026) 🚗
From Tuesday, 9th June 2026, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.
If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:
• any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked
• the test centre you first booked at on that current booking
If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at, on 9th June – not where you first booked. 🚗

Further dates announced for changes to the test booking system following the previous post on this matter.

Further changes to combat the exploitation of learner drivers by third parties have been officially announced:

- From 12 May 2026, only learner drivers will lawfully be able to book and manage a driving test.
- From 9 June, test centre changes will be restricted to the 3 centres closest to the original booking.
- These changes follow DVSA’s announcement that the number of changes allowed to a practical test booking will be reduced to 2 from 31 March 2026.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has today (17 March 2026) confirmed when new rules will be introduced for car driving test bookings, making the system fairer and giving learners control of their booking.

From 12 May 2026 only learner drivers will be able to book or change a car driving test, while from 9 June 2026, location limitations will apply when moving a booked test.

This follows DVSA’s announcement that from 31 March 2026, the number of changes a learner driver is allowed to make to a car driving test booking will be cut to 2 (reduced from 6).

The upcoming changes followed a nationwide consultation on improving the booking rules, are part of a crackdown on third-party services abusing the test booking system. They aim to reduce the reselling of driving tests and will create a level playing field for learner drivers, giving them more control over their learning to drive journey.

Changes to practical test booking rules starting 31 March 2026

The DVSA have announced changes to the practical driving test booking system. One key change is that a driving test booking will only be allowed two changes (such as date, time, or test centre), reduced from the current limit of six. These reforms aim to make the booking system fairer and reduce misuse, including people repeatedly changing tests or reselling slots. Previous changes made to the booking before this date will not count towards the new limit of two.

Overall, the changes are intended to improve access to test slots and help tackle long waiting times. Speak to your LDC driving school instructor for more details. Further changes are planned to limit the geographical area within which a change of Test Centre location can be made - watch this space.

Congratulation to Dejan for passing his driving test recently in Aberdeen, Cove with only 1 minor driving fault (1DF). This has been an amazing learning journey from start to finish. First time pass.

This is an excellent achievement and a true reflection of his commitment, home preparation and efforts throughout the training. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with you during our driving lessons. You have such a fantastic personality, always happy, smiling and determined to succeed in the task on hand.

I’m very happy for you Dejan! I wish you life time of joyful and safe driving. I already miss having you in the car.

Dejan took advantage of access to various home study resources, including text books and videos. Home study significantly improves our learning progress rate. We have superb first time pass rate record and a successful training program catered for all levels of drivers. I offer training to complete beginners, refresher training to fully trained learners but also nervous full licence holders.

🚘🚘Our driving school is now accepting new clients!🚘🚘

Congratulations to Lee for passing his driving test at Aberdeen North test centre with (1DF). Lee joined a driving school 6 weeks before taking a driving test and he passed it with fantastic results. I was delighted to see rapid progress in Lee’s development. Lee was able to amend and make a permanent changes to his driving habits and retain the skills. This was very impressive progress while learning difficult new skills, which would make me say that you are very intelligent and have a bright future ahead. I admire your optimism and believing in power of your own ability!

This client completed driving school training program and passed a mock test just prior of visiting test centre. Driving test was arranged and managed by the driving school free of charge. The test date was matched with training completion time.

Massive Congratulations to Saeed for passing his driving test at Peterhead test centre. This was the first time I've travelled with my client to the Peterhead test centre. Saeed drove the car very well on the test day and passed driving test with 0 driving errors (0DF)! This was a perfect driving test in the eyes of Mr examiner and he was very impressed by Saeeds’ driving skills.

Saeed joined our driving school only a week before and progressed very quickly. You were able to implement quick and permanent changes to the way you drive and take my feedback on board. This is difficult to achieve for most of us in such a short space of time. I was very impressed by your training progress rate.

Saeed completed driving school training program and passed a second mock test in Peterhead. The driving test was taken few days after we passed a mock test. Thank you for all the preparation prior to your Aberdeen driving lessons Saeed. It’s been really fun to teach you and I’m pleased that we’ve meet.

Saeed said that he’s tried and called nearly 100 driving instructors to seek training as his driving test was booked within less than a week. Driving tests with no faults (0 DF) are not given lightly by examiners, and only awarded to the outstanding drivers who can demonstrate higher level of driving skills.

Congratulations to Ada for passing her driving test at Aberdeen Cove test centre. Ada was very successful on that day and pass her driving test on the first attempt, arriving to the test centre with two small driving errors (2DF). What an amazing drive!

It was a pleasure to teach you and sharing a car. You have become a very good and self confident driver and I wish you all the best. Thank you for all the preparation prior to the driving lessons and for putting a trust in the driving school training program.

🚘🚘Our driving school is now accepting new clients!🚘🚘

Congratulations to Gabby for passing her driving test on the first attempt at Aberdeen North test centre. Gabby did an amazing job during her test, arriving back at the test centre with 2 little driving errors (2DF). Driving test examiner recognised my clients’ driving abilities and complemented her for a very good and safe drive.

Gabby took weekly lessons progressing very well through the training program. Driving school managed this clients driving test appointment. The test date was amended with expected completion of the training program. Driving test was taken within a week of finishing training and passing a mock test.

Thank you for all the preparation prior to your Aberdeen driving lessons. It’s been a pleasure to teach you and really fun to share the car with you.
