Detailing a Rare 1 of 30 BMW M5.
If you're on the fence about having your vehicle protected, take a look at the process behind one of our recent 4 day project.
We did our best to capture as much footage as possible throughout this transformation. However, with the weather working against us in the prep stage and the sheer amount of time involved in a job like this, a few parts inevitably went undocumented. That said, we've included all the key stages that showcase the level of care and attention that goes into every vehicle we work on.
The owner had recently purchased this incredibly rare BMW M5, one of only 30 produced. After investing heavily in bringing the car up to the standard it deserved, he wanted to ensure it stayed protected for years to come.
As a true car enthusiast, the owner understood how much damage can be caused by corrosion, especially in the hidden areas that are often neglected. Places such as behind arch liners, inside wheel arches and around the subframe, are all hotspots for trapped dirt, moisture, road salt, and grime.
After discussing the best options, we booked the vehicle in for our Lanoguard Underbody Protection Package.
This isn't a simple spray and go treatment.
We remove arch liners and undertrays to gain access to the areas most places simply miss. Heavy contamination is broken down using professional grade pre washes, degreasers, and snow foam before being thoroughly pressure cleaned using specialist undercarriage equipment.
The wheel arches, suspension components, and surrounding areas are then meticulously scrubbed and cleaned to the highest standard possible before the vehicle undergoes a full exterior wash and decontamination process.
Once cleaned, the vehicle was moved indoors where it is blow dried and left to fully dry, ensuring maximum bonding and effectiveness of the protection products.
Before any protection is applied, the vehicle is fully masked to eliminate any risk of overspray. We then treat all exposed nuts and bolts with Lanoguard Moto Grease to help prevent future corrosion before applying two generous coats of Lanoguard Underbody Protection throughout the undercarriage and wheel arches.
We also carried out a single stage machine polish to enhance gloss, remove light defects, and revive the paintwork. The vehicle was then panel wiped to remove any polish residues and protected it with Angelwax's professional grade 3 Year Ceramic Coating, exclusively available through AA Valet & Detail.
The wheels were also protected with a durable wheel sealant to help repel brake dust, road grime, and contamination, making future maintenance easier while keeping them looking their best.
To finish the package, SMB Plates designed, and custom cut in house a M5 Style number plate holder with a Retro Style number plate. We also carried out a full interior valet, thoroughly cleaning and refreshing the cabin to ensure the vehicle looked and felt its absolute best inside and out.
