Servicing & Warranty

Servicing your vehicle with Mastora does not affect your manufacturer’s warranty. Under the Block Exemption Regulations, owners are free to choose where their vehicle is serviced, provided manufacturer procedures are followed. All vehicles still within the 3-year manufacturer warranty are serviced using Genuine Land Rover parts and manufacturer-approved oils and lubricants, without the cost and inconvenience of main dealer pricing. We are also able to authorise and carry out repairs on vehicles covered by:

- Land Rover extended warranties

- Third-party warranty providers

Manufacturer recalls and warranty campaigns must still be completed by a main dealer, but all routine servicing, diagnostics, and authorised repairs can be handled by Mastora. Our Approach

Some faults take you somewhere you weren’t expecting.

A recent vehicle came in with cruise control, lane assist and engine performance issues. My investigation eventually traced the problems to the hybrid motor system - perhaps not the first connection you’d make from those symptoms.

That’s one of the things I find most interesting about this work. You can start with several apparently separate problems, then gradually build a picture of how they’re connected.

There’s genuine satisfaction in the moment it makes sense. This was one of those jobs.

Finding the blockage is only part of the diagnosis.

Pictured is a restricted EGR filter, part of the exhaust gas recirculation system. Finding the restriction raises another question: why did it happen?

Soot-related problems can involve several factors. Frequent short journeys can limit the opportunity for the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to regenerate, while airflow or boost faults can contribute to excessive soot production.

The condition of the DPF matters too. On engines where the EGR circuit draws exhaust from downstream of the DPF, a damaged filter can allow soot through and contribute to blockage of the EGR B filter.

These are different issues, and establishing which are involved is essential. Replacing a restricted component alone can leave the underlying problem unresolved.

You may know the face. Here’s a little more of the story.

I’m Stuart, and I’ve spent nearly 30 years working with and on vehicles. My roots are in Land Rover, and that experience has grown into the specialist Jaguar and Land Rover work we do at Mastora today.

My background spans the business - from front of house and helping customers understand their vehicles, to parts identification, fitment, quality control and the work itself.

Throughout my time at Mastora, I’ve been the person the most challenging faults and technically demanding repairs have come to.

That includes hands-on mechanical fault-finding, complex electrical faults and problems with the networks that allow a vehicle’s systems to communicate. It also includes key programming, control module updates and programming, and precision mechanical repairs.

I’ve always taken on the jobs where precision and judgement matter most - where a small error can cause thousands of pounds of damage. They demand careful preparation, the right equipment and a thorough understanding of the vehicle.

Over the years, I’ve also guided and trained technicians here, sharing that knowledge while continuing to take responsibility for the demanding technical work myself.

That experience shapes every stage of a job: listening to the customer, establishing the cause, selecting suitable parts and checking the finished repair.

It’s a part of Mastora’s story I don’t share very often, but it’s the experience I bring to the workshop every day.

Before recommending a timing-chain replacement, we start with understanding the problem.

Timing-chain replacement is a familiar part of our work at Mastora. Our assessment considers the concern, the condition of the timing assembly and whether other faults may be contributing to the wear.

On applicable earlier Ingenium engines, we offer timing-chain stretch testing as part of that assessment. The result helps inform our recommendation alongside the vehicle’s symptoms, available history and other findings.

Where we identify a contributing issue, we explain what it means for the proposed repair. We can also discuss genuine and aftermarket parts options where suitable, explaining the specification, price and warranty before agreeing the work with you.

For an owner, a major repair is a significant decision. You deserve to understand what needs attention, why it matters and what the proposed work includes.

It’s the same considered approach we bring to looking after the whole vehicle - from scheduled servicing to mechanical repairs, electronics and programming.

A familiar face behind a fresh look for Mastora.

Although, if you haven’t been in for a while, you might need a second look - there isn't quite as much of that face as there once was!

For anyone who hasn’t met me, I’m Stuart, Managing Director of Mastora.

Our family business has been looking after Land Rovers and Jaguars here in Alnwick for over 20 years. Many of you have trusted us with several vehicles over that time, and those longstanding relationships mean a great deal to me.

Alongside running the business, I’ve long led the technical side of the workshop, taking responsibility for our most demanding diagnoses, vehicle electronics and programming. Over the years, I’ve also trained and guided technicians at Mastora, passing on the knowledge and standards that underpin our work. Working through a difficult problem carefully is something I take real pride in.

That experience matters just as much when your vehicle visits for routine servicing or maintenance. Whatever brings you to Mastora, you should understand what your vehicle needs, what we recommend and what you’re agreeing to.

We’re giving Mastora a fresh look and will be sharing more of the people, experience and everyday work behind the business.
