Statistics show that 1 in 5 new young drivers are likely to be involved in a collision within the first 12 months of passing their test.

This is due to a dangerous mix of inexperience, under -developed hazard perception, over confidence and biological factors affecting impulse control.

Parents play a crucial role in lowering these crash rates. They act as influential role models and safety coaches during the high-risk first year of solo driving.

Talk to your new driver about the risks and discuss how they can be reduced.
