Customers Ask us regularly ,

“ Why do I need a service if it’s just been MOT’D

The difference comes down to legal requirement vs maintenance.

🚗 MOT

The MOT test is a mandatory annual check in the UK (once your car is over 3 years old).

* Ensures your car meets minimum safety and emissions standards
* Checks things like brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, seatbelts
* It’s a pass or fail test
* Does NOT include repairs (you pay extra if anything needs fixing)

👉 Purpose: Keep your car legal and safe on the road

🔧 Service

A car service is routine maintenance, not required by law.

* Includes things like:
* Oil and filter change
* Fluid checks and top-ups
* Inspecting engine parts, battery, brakes, etc.
* Different levels: interim, full, major
* Helps prevent breakdowns and expensive repairs

👉 Purpose: Keep your car running smoothly and reliably

🆚 Key difference

* MOT: Legal check → “Is the car safe enough right now?”
* Service: Maintenance → “Is the car in good condition long-term?”

Do you need both?

Yes:

* MOT = legal requirement
* Service = strongly recommended

A car can pass an MOT but still be poorly maintained, which is why servicing matters.

TYRES TYRES TYRES

One very important part of a vehicle a lot of drivers don’t know the first thing about

read this to educate you a little , but if in doubt give us a shout

Tyre checks are a quick but important part of keeping your car safe and efficient. Here’s what you should look at regularly:

🔍 1. Tread depth

* Legal minimum in the UK: 1.6 mm
* Safer to replace around 3 mm (especially for wet grip)

Easy check:

* Use a gauge or the 20p coin test
(if the outer band is visible, tread may be too low)

💨 2. Tyre pressure

* Check at least once a month and before long trips

* Use the recommended PSI from your car manual or door frame

Why it matters:

* Low pressure → poor fuel economy, uneven wear
* Overinflated → less grip, harsher ride

⚠️ 3. Damage and wear

Look for:

* Cuts, cracks, or bulges
* Nails or embedded objects
* Uneven wear (could mean alignment or suspension issues)

🔄 4. Even wear across tyres

* Centre worn → overinflated
* Edges worn → underinflated
* One side worn → possible alignment issue

🛞 5. Valve caps and leaks

* Make sure valve caps are on
* Listen for slow hissing or check for gradual pressure loss

📅 6. Tyre age

* Tyres can degrade even if tread looks fine
* Usually recommended to replace after 5–6 years

When to check

* Monthly
* Before long journeys
* If the car feels different (pulling, vibration, noise)

We often get Asked
“ What does an economy Remap do and is it Worth it ?

car economy remap (ECU remap) is when the software in your engine control unit is adjusted to improve fuel efficiency rather than performance.

🔧 What it is

An ECU remap changes how the engine manages:

* Fuel injection
* Air–fuel ratio
* Turbo boost (if applicable)
* Throttle response

Instead of boosting power, an economy remap aims to make the engine run more efficiently.

⛽ What it can improve

* Fuel economy (often 5–15% better, depending on the car)
* Smoother power delivery
* Less need to rev hard (especially in diesels)

Works best on:

* Diesel engines
* Turbocharged cars

With the fuel prices through the roof , why not invest on an economy Remap to save on fuel

WHAT IS WHEEL ALIGNMENT ? people ask

Wheel alignment (also called tire alignment) is the adjustment of your vehicle’s suspension so the wheels are set to the correct angles. It doesn’t actually change the tires themselves—it adjusts how they contact the road
There are three main alignment angles:

* Camber – inward or outward tilt of the wheel (viewed from front)

* Toe – whether the tires point inward or outward (viewed from above)

* Caster – angle of the steering axis (affects stability and steering feel)

Signs you need alignment

* Car pulls to one side
* Steering wheel isn’t centered
* Uneven or rapid tire wear
* Steering feels loose or unstable

Why it matters

* Improves tire life
* Better fuel efficiency
* Safer handling and braking
* Smoother driving experience
