Do you genuinely believe this was serviced by Porsche Hatfield in 2024. This Oil Filter says a completely different story, once I shared this video with the customer he couldn’t believe it. Porsche didn’t replace the filter as they either didn’t know where it was or someone couldn’t be bothered to strip it down to access the oil filter.

Bore Scoring 2015 Porsche 911 Targa 4S (991.1) – Misfire Diagnosis Turns Into Something Much Bigger

A customer contacted us after their Porsche 911 started misfiring and, in their words, had “lit up like a Christmas tree” with warning lights.

After carrying out diagnostics, we traced the fault to Cylinder 4. From there, we stripped things back further and removed the coil pack and spark plug — both of which were not in great condition, especially the spark plug.

Given what we found, we decided to carry out a bore scope inspection, and unfortunately discovered liner scoring.

As with many cases like this, there can be several causes. One possibility is that spark plugs may not have been fitted correctly previously, potentially over-tightened, with metal debris finding its way into the cylinder. Until further strip-down and investigation, there can be more than one explanation.

What certainly doesn’t help is poor servicing or repair work. This issue has developed only a few months after previous work was carried out elsewhere, which makes proper attention to detail all the more important.

If your Porsche isn’t sounding or driving quite right, don’t ignore it. Early diagnosis can make all the difference.
