We’re are attending the famous weymouth beach motocross.

We can not wait to see the bikes race on the sand.

I had a lovely conversation with a customer the other day.

She asked how much a full valet would be for her car, and I replied, “Our Supreme Valet is £120.”

Her response pleasantly surprised me: “Is that all?”

She then said she would be happy to leave a tip once the job was completed and encouraged me to explain the value behind the service. It was a wonderful reminder that many people genuinely recognise and appreciate the time, effort, and care that go into providing a professional valet.

For those who may not realise, a full valet typically involves 3–4 hours of hands-on work, in addition to travelling to the customer, setting up, packing away equipment, and handling administration before and after the appointment.

The £120 fee also covers essential business expenses, including fuel, professional cleaning products, equipment maintenance and replacement, insurance, vehicle running costs, advertising, and other overheads. Once these costs have been deducted, the amount remaining is considerably less than the headline price.

When the total time involved is taken into account, a £120 valet can work out at approximately £15–£20 per hour before tax. As a self-employed business owner, this income must also cover holidays, sick days, quieter periods, and future investment in equipment, products, and training.

Professional valeting is far more than simply washing a vehicle. It requires skill, experience, specialist products and equipment, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to delivering the highest possible standard of service.

To the lovely customer I spoke with on monday, thank you. Your kindness, understanding, and appreciation were genuinely valued.
