🚘 DK GARAGE TALK – WOULD YOU TRAVEL BACKWARDS?

Here’s a strange bit of motoring history!

Some estate cars were fitted with additional rear-facing seats, allowing passengers to sit looking out through the back window.

It was a clever way of fitting extra passengers into the available space.

But would you fancy travelling backwards on a long journey? 😂

💬 Have you ever owned or travelled in a car with rear-facing seats?

👇 Which model was it?

🚨 UK DRIVERS — DO YOU KNOW YOUR MOT RULES? 🚨

Here’s one that every car owner should know! 👀

AT WHAT AGE DOES A CAR FIRST NEED AN MOT IN THE UK?

🅰️ 2 years
🅱️ 3 years
🅲 4 years
🅳 5 years
🅴 6 years

👇 COMMENT A, B, C, D OR E!

But here’s the twist…

🤔 Are the rules the same everywhere in the UK?

And should newer cars have their first MOT earlier, or is the current system good enough?

Let’s get the debate going! 🔥

💥 WET BELT VS TIMING CHAIN — WHICH WOULD YOU TRUST WITH YOUR ENGINE?

Now THIS one should get people talking! 🔥

Wet belts have attracted plenty of criticism over premature deterioration and expensive repairs on certain engines.

But timing chains aren’t exactly immune to problems either!

If you were buying another car tomorrow, which would you choose?

🅰️ Wet belt
🅱️ Timing chain
🇨 Both are reliable
🇩 Both can be trouble
🇪 Depends on the engine

👇 COMMENT A, B, C, D OR E!

And here’s the big question: would you actually refuse to buy a car purely because it has a wet belt? 👀

🔧 DK GARAGE TALK – IMAGINE STARTING YOUR CAR BY HAND!

Before electric starters became common, motorists often had to start their engines using a crank handle!

And it wasn’t always easy. Getting it wrong could even result in an injury from the handle kicking back.

Imagine having to do that on a freezing winter morning before heading to work! 🥶

💬 Have you ever started an old engine with a crank handle?

👇 Tell us what it was like!

🚗 DK GARAGE TALK – THREE PEOPLE IN THE FRONT?!

Remember the days of front bench seats?

Some older cars had room for three people across the front, instead of the individual seats and centre consoles we’re used to today.

They were especially common in older American cars, but plenty of British classics had them too!

💬 Would you like to see front bench seats make a comeback?

👇 What’s the best car you’ve seen with one?

🌡️ CAR COOLANT — LET’S SETTLE THIS ONE! 🔥

You’ve opened your bonnet and checked the coolant.

But here’s the question…

WHAT COLOUR IS ENGINE COOLANT USUALLY SUPPLIED IN?

🅰️ Red
🅱️ Blue
🅲 Green
🅳 Yellow
🅴 Pink

👇 COMMENT A, B, C, D OR E!

Now for the real question! 👀

Does the colour actually tell you which coolant your car needs?

And have you ever seen someone top up their coolant with the wrong type? 😬

👨‍🔧 Mechanics, we want your opinions!

🚨 EGR VS ADBLUE — WHICH SYSTEM HAS CAUSED YOU MORE HEADACHES?

Modern diesel owners, this one’s for you! 😂

EGR valves clogging up, AdBlue warnings, sensors playing up, countdown messages on the dashboard…

Sometimes it feels like the emissions systems cause more stress than the engine itself!

So which has been your biggest headache?

🅰️ EGR system
🅱️ AdBlue system
🇨 Both are problematic
🇩 Neither really
🇪 Depends on the vehicle

👇 COMMENT YOUR ANSWER!

And tell us what vehicle you drive. Let’s see if certain makes and models keep appearing! 👀

🛑 MOT TESTERS & MECHANICS — LET’S HEAR YOUR ANSWERS! 🛑

Here’s a question that could get people arguing! 🔥

WHEN SHOULD BRAKE DISCS BE REPLACED?

🅰️ When they look a bit rusty
🅱️ When they have deep grooves or cracks
🅲 Every 10,000 miles
🅳 Only when the brake pads are replaced
🅴 They never need replacing

👇 COMMENT A, B, C, D OR E!

👨‍🔧 Mechanics, how often do you see people driving around with badly worn discs?

🚗 Drivers, have you ever been shocked by the condition of your brakes?

Let’s hear your stories! 👇
