2023 Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR in for upgraded turbo and injector tuning.

We have tuned a number of these both in-house and remotely, and each one needs to be treated properly. This one was no different.

During testing, we identified throttle-control issues and a boost leak. Both problems would have been completely missed by a generic flash-and-dash file.

This is the difference between uploading a file and carrying out proper custom tuning. Logging, diagnostics and calibration work matter, especially on modified setups.

Once the faults are resolved, we will be pushing this X3 into the 220 WHP territory.

2022 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory in for custom dyno tuning.

This bike is advertised at 175HP, but on our dyno it made 164HP in standard form.

It was fitted with a full Akrapovič exhaust system with the catalytic converters removed, but it had never been tuned to suit the hardware changes. At wide-open throttle, the fueling was heavily over-rich, costing power and preventing the engine from performing properly.

After a full custom calibration, we corrected the fueling across the rev range and gained 11HP consistently throughout the RPM range.

Not just a peak-power number. The bike now delivers stronger, cleaner power everywhere it matters.

Full exhaust systems need the correct calibration. Fitting parts without tuning the ECU is not a finished job.

2007 Dodge Charger 5.7L HEMI on the hub dyno.

The car came in already making a healthy 344–348 HP and responded well to calibration, finishing at 373 HP.

The dyno graph also exposed issues that a basic flash would never identify.

We noticed transmission slip at the beginning of the run and throughout the pull, with dyno hub RPM no longer correctly matching the expected vehicle RPM under load.

On the dyno, intake temperatures stayed at approximately 25°C, matching the outside temperature.

During the road test, the real problem became obvious:

• Intake temperature reached 87°C at idle
• Intake temperature averaged around 57°C while driving
• Engine coolant temperature reached 106–107°C
• Exhaust gas temperature exceeded 900°C

The open air-box intake is pulling hot engine-bay air instead of fresh outside air. The current exhaust setup is also retaining excessive heat.

Our recommendations:

• Fit a properly enclosed intake box
• Route a cold-air scoop from the front of the vehicle
• Install a lower-temperature thermostat
• Inspect the cooling system
• Fit a freer-flowing exhaust system for off-road or motorsport use
• Investigate the transmission slip before further hard use

Tuning is not just about chasing a peak power figure. Proper dyno testing and live-data analysis expose the issues that affect real-world performance and reliability.

My dad absolutely sending it during development on the 2025 Voge DS800X.

From factory, these bikes feel weak, jerky, and far from what they should be. That is exactly why we have started full ECU calibration development on this platform.

Back-to-back stock base runs showed:

81HP
79Nm

The numbers are only part of the story. The real issue is the factory rideability, throttle response, and overall delivery. We are working on major improvements to smooth the bike out, sharpen the response, and give it the calibration it should have had from the start.

Once development is complete, this will be available through our ECU flash service.

This is what we call an “explode my engine” tune.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to this customer before the ski came to us.

The calibration we found on this supercharged jet ski was shocking. The kind of setup that even a naturally aspirated engine would not tolerate safely, never mind a boosted application under load.

This is not performance tuning. This is guesswork with consequences.

We have seen this far too many times now. Customers pay for a tune, the ski runs badly, parts fail, engines get damaged, and then we are left to diagnose, repair, and properly recalibrate what should have been done correctly in the first place.

You know who you are.

Once again, we will be fixing and retuning another one of your previous jobs, just like we have done with many skis before this.

Do better.

At Lukos Engineering, we do not just flash files and hope for the best. We diagnose, log, test, calibrate, and make sure the setup is safe before chasing numbers.

Power means nothing if the engine does not survive.

My dad absolutely sending this 2022 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory on our motorcycle dyno.

Fitted with an Akrapovic exhaust, we carried out baseline dyno runs before tuning later this week.

As expected with the modified exhaust and factory calibration, the bike is currently underperforming, making only 161 HP.

This is exactly why proper dyno testing matters. Parts alone do not guarantee results. The ECU calibration needs to match the hardware.

Once development is complete, we will be offering ECU flash services for this platform.

This is what proper development looks like.

Together with Sub3Racing , we are pushing the GTR 230 platform far beyond what most people believe is possible.

This ski is now at a level where it is capable of embarrassing stock and tuned RXP-300s, while doing it at lower RPM, lower boost, and with a setup that keeps the engine in a much happier operating range.

Most people chase high RPM and high boost just to achieve less.

We are taking a different approach: proper R&D, live data, controlled testing, calibration development, and understanding how the full package works - not just throwing parts at it and hoping for a number.

77–78 mph on choppy water is already a serious result.

80 mph is next.
