Well with all the whoa about charging buyers at car boot sales all over the country it's interesting to read. But if folk are willing to pay and go, sales will continue.
At Rockbank for the first seven years of my organising from 1996 – 2002 only sellers were charged £3 back then for a car selling.
Then in 2003 Pendeen came into being on a Sunday afternoon charging visitors with cars 50p as we went on who do you call local? So gave up on that the following year. 2004, 2005 Pendeen was getting more popular not sure when we moved into the selling area now used with the Porto Loos that made Pendeen a name everyone seemed to be talking about. But cars selling were £5 and donation buckets were left with the mailboxes for buyers from opening time. £10 early buyers came into force to discourage anyone asking to come in early. Covid year no car boot sales at Pendeen. Year after we decided to continue with guidelines but dropped the fee for early buyers to £5 Goodness so many folk were prepared to pay and as now, we have an all-day car boot sale. Having the extra income helped safeguard our expenses with the Porto Loos and keeping the site in pristine condition allowing us to decide on topping up any family charities we so wished. Having raised over £250,000.00 and given away, not many car boot sales can say that, and I can see when folk are referring to greed elsewhere. But as folk tell me they aren't interested where the money goes, they are there for themselves.
Just that in the last thirty years from small beginnings to what has been achieved at Pendeen knowing so many appreciate what has been done. 🤔 Selling fees remain at £7 per Car, £12 per Transit Van. League of Friends attend holding the donation buckets from 1pm making such a difference as they have done now for a number of years. 🙂
