Penguins Bake Off🍰🧁

What can you make? What objects can you see? What tools will you use?🍰🧁🥣🧑‍🍳

Today we have been ‘baking’! The children took it in turns to use a range of tools, such as spoons, tongs and fish slices to transport loose objects. As we looked at the table and all of the tools, loose parts, and tins laid out, we talked about what we could use to bake, what we liked to eat, what tools we could use and so much more. We also enjoyed exploring our communication skills, looking at the cookbook and talking about what we would like to are, what foods we enjoy eating and what we see our grown ups making at home! When we looked at the objects the children began identifying a range of objects, such as pine cones, bowls and cupcake cases, and choosing which ones they would use to bake with. The children particularly loved using the tongs to move pine cones between tins and cases! We also enjoyed working together to count these items, the ladies helped the children where needed, working on maths and communication skills. Exploring the tongs, spoons and loose parts allowed us to develop our physical skills especially our fine motor skills, by exploring the different tools and using them to pick up objects, as well as allowing us to focus on our maths skills, counting the loose parts too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to develop their mathematical skills, counting the loose parts, whilst also developing their fine motor skills, by using tools to transport loose parts and much more. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with lots of different loose parts, tools, tins and cookbooks. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to work on communication and language, talking about what they were making and what they enjoyed eating, whilst also developing their motor and maths skills too.

All in all we have had lots of fun exploring our baking activity and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in many different ways such as:

🍰Physical development🍰

🧑‍🍳Personal, social and emotional development🧑‍🍳

🍰Communication and language🍰

🧑‍🍳Understanding the world🧑‍🍳

🍰Literacy🍰

🍰Mathematics🧑‍🍳

****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could focus on using a range of tools to transport objects, or even bake your favourites, further allowing you to enhance this experience and develop your understanding further.

Well done Penguins 🐧

Ducklings🐥

****Post from Monday 29th June 2026****

Ready Steady Go…..🚗🚦🛣️

Today in Ducklings we have been having a rolling time exploring all the cars and using our gross motor and fine motor skills to push the, down the pipes. The interest of this activity came from Child JS and his love for cars and other vehicles.🚗🚦🛣️

Intent 🚗
The intent of this activity for the children to use their fine and gross motor skills to push, tip and roll thing down the pipe with the resources we had out for the children. The children used these set up we hade made for them to explore the different pipes, tyres and seeing what they could fire down all the different holes.🚗🚦🛣️

Implementation🚦
We implemented this by giving the children multiple different pipes and wooden planks to roll things down, we had lots of differed coloured cars that the children could roll down and make lots of noises. We talked to the children about the red and green lights on when to stop and when too go. The children used their imaginations to make lots of different scenarios with the vehicles we had out making them go fast or go slow don the pipes and planks.🚗🚦🛣️

Impact🛣️
The impact of this activity was for the children to make the cars roll down at their own pace long with teaching the children how the different vehicles move and what they do when we see them on the road outside. Our gross motor skills were improved as we used our arms to make the cars go up and own and too roll them down or even up the pipes ad see were they would come out. Some children even looked through the tyres to see where their car had gone and was laughing while it went down.🚗🚦🛣️

🚗Physical Development🚗
🚦Personal, Social and Emotional🚦
🛣️Communication and Language🛣️
🚗Literacy🚗
🚦Understanding the World🚦

At Home🏡
You could go on a walk or a drive and see how many different vehicles you can see. How fast do they go? What colours are they? Are they big or small? Please post any of your adventures outside of nursery on tapestry. We love to see what you get up to at home.🚗🚦🛣️

Well Done Ducklings🐥

Come along and join our band! 🥁🪘🪈🪇

What instrument will you choose? 🎺🪉🥁🎸🎹

Today in Penguin’s we have created our own little band where we used a wide range of different musical instruments to make lots of different sounds and expressive ourselves using the instruments. This activity led on from the children’s current interest in the instruments and song time. We had a blast making music together and of course making lots of noise, we also enjoyed singing a few of our favourite songs too. Throughout we also learned how to make sounds using some of the instruments and the children took a particular interest in the trumpet and large drum.

The INENT of this activity was to allow the children to get creative with the instruments and make lots of different sounds. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having the different instruments for the children to use and explore sounds and noise levels. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to get creative and express themselves.

All in all the children had a busy morning getting musical and creating our band, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in different ways such as:

🥁Physical development🥁

🎹Communication and language🎹

🎺Personal, social, emotional development🎺

🪇Understanding the world 🪇

🪘Literacy🪘

🎸Expressive arts and design🎸

*****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could make your own instruments at home such as filling a bottle up with rice and using it as a shaker or getting pots and pans out to make your own drum set. 🪇🥁

REMEMBER to share pictures of all your at home adventures as we would love to see what you have been up to at home as we would love to involve your at home play at nursery to help enhance your play.

Well done everyone! 🥰

Penguin’s 🐧

Can you help? 🤔

This month we have been looking at our open ended resources and We are short on a couple of resources due to wear and tear. We are looking for loose parts such as leaves, sticks, pebbles/Stones and feathers. We are also looking into our larger open ended resources such as boxes of variety of sizes, Wall paper rolls for mark making, costume jewellery including necklaces, bracelets, hair, Old hair styling tools etc. Alongside packaging items such as bubble wrap as this is fun to paint too. If you have any tea pots or tea sets we would greatly appreciated too

If anyone has any items lying around their houses they would like to get rid of, we would be more than happy to accept these. Any donations of the items above are welcome, and are much appreciated.

Thank you for your continuous support to enhance the children’s environment and give them amazing learning opportunities 🥰

Monday 29th June 2026

Welcome to the Owls School.

Today was all about schools following on from our graduation on Sunday 28th June 2026. The INTENT came from all the interests of the children after the graduation 🧑‍🎓

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by getting a school out, wooden people, number pebbles, maths reel and different books about schools so that the children could get information from them. Sarah H also placed the wooden slates down in front of the school door way to create a footpath, the slates had letters on so that the children could identify these. The children soon got to work. CC and TB were placing the people into the school while KD was identifying the number pebbles from 2 to 8 which he did this successfully. AT and HDJ were trying on the different uniforms for each school, while PD and LS were making cups of tea and coffee. Later in the day Cheryl a read story about going to school and what to look forward to.

The IMPACT was that the children could use their skills and imagination to discover what school would be like.

During this activity the areas of learning are :

Personal Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Mathematics
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Literacy

At home you could go for a walk to the children’s school to show them what it looks like and what to look forward to.

Well Done Owls 🦉

Become Artists with us! 👩‍🎨

Let’s do some texture panting… what can you see? 🎨🫟🖌️

Today in Penguin’s we have been doing some texture painting using different textured items to paint on allowing us to enhance our painting interest. The ladies laid the table with bubble wrap along the table alongside paper and a egg box for us to use and paint allowing us to let our creativity run free. Throughout we spoke about all the different colours we could see, what it felt like when painting those said items and mixing colours creating our own unique colours too. We discussed the colours we had made and what colours we mix to make a range of different colours.

The INENT of this activity was to allow the children to try something new and get creative. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having the different textured items for the children to paint alongside different paints to use too. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to get creative ad express themselves.

All in all the children had a busy morning getting creative, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in different ways such as:
