Penguins 🐧
Penguins Bake Off🍰🧁
What can you make? What objects can you see? What tools will you use?🍰🧁🥣🧑🍳
Today we have been ‘baking’! The children took it in turns to use a range of tools, such as spoons, tongs and fish slices to transport loose objects. As we looked at the table and all of the tools, loose parts, and tins laid out, we talked about what we could use to bake, what we liked to eat, what tools we could use and so much more. We also enjoyed exploring our communication skills, looking at the cookbook and talking about what we would like to are, what foods we enjoy eating and what we see our grown ups making at home! When we looked at the objects the children began identifying a range of objects, such as pine cones, bowls and cupcake cases, and choosing which ones they would use to bake with. The children particularly loved using the tongs to move pine cones between tins and cases! We also enjoyed working together to count these items, the ladies helped the children where needed, working on maths and communication skills. Exploring the tongs, spoons and loose parts allowed us to develop our physical skills especially our fine motor skills, by exploring the different tools and using them to pick up objects, as well as allowing us to focus on our maths skills, counting the loose parts too.
The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to develop their mathematical skills, counting the loose parts, whilst also developing their fine motor skills, by using tools to transport loose parts and much more. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with lots of different loose parts, tools, tins and cookbooks. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to work on communication and language, talking about what they were making and what they enjoyed eating, whilst also developing their motor and maths skills too.
All in all we have had lots of fun exploring our baking activity and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰
Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in many different ways such as:
🍰Physical development🍰
🧑🍳Personal, social and emotional development🧑🍳
🍰Communication and language🍰
🧑🍳Understanding the world🧑🍳
🍰Literacy🍰
🍰Mathematics🧑🍳

AT HOME 🏡 you could focus on using a range of tools to transport objects, or even bake your favourites, further allowing you to enhance this experience and develop your understanding further.
Well done Penguins 🐧
