Slades is an independent, family-run garage and recovery company founded in 1978. They offer 24-hour roadside recovery and emergency breakdown assistance for cars and commercial vehicles - this includes everything from motorcycles up to large HGVs and coaches, even sports cars with low clearance thanks to demountable low-loader equipment.

Their MOT centre also handles class 4 and 7 (cars, small vans, mini-buses, camper vans) with service and diagnostics.

2 1/2 years in the process our R520 is now ready for the road .
From a start base of the twin tag 70t manual unit.
After a long time hunting for a suitable truck we sourced this very low kms unit which was perfect as it already had a twin flex chassis, low cab with twin steering pumps and correct train weights, the only thing we've done was replaced the standard front axle with am950 9t one.
It was then stretched to the correct length with new sop files from scania for changes, before being sent to roger dysons for the cl500 equipment and stainless steel locker body's.

The boys look forward to getting out on the roads and testing it's capabilities.

A vast mixture of jobs going though the workshop lately from day to day mot's and general services to engine changes or heldex axle problems, 1 of the the jobs included sorting of an audi heater matrix fault soon for the air con machine to be packed away with different heating faults when the weather changes.

Job Role: Automotive Office Receptionist & Administrator

Slades Garage Ltd is a well-established and reputable family run automotive repair company based in Chard, Somerset. We provide MOT and servicing as well as 24 hour breakdown and recovery. We are committed to providing high-quality service and maintenance to our customers. Our team of skilled professionals are dedicated to delivering exceptional results and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Job Description:
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Office Receptionist/Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role ensuring the smooth operation of our office providing administration support and maintaining an organised work environment. The ideal candidate will be able to confidently communicate with customers and suppliers.

This is a full- time position and is office based. Hours will be 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday.
Salary will be £14 -£16 per hour depending on experience.
There is a company pension and staff have special rates for their vehicles.

Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Answering the telephone & processing emails
• Creating customer invoices and taking payments
• Generating new jobs and updating information on Apex systems*
• Dealing with vehicle breakdowns and recoveries via Apex and allocating to drivers
• Booking in workshop enquiries; MOT, Servicing, Parts Replacements
• Speaking with parts suppliers and placing orders
• Contacting customers with updates
• Liaising with our team of drivers, customers, technicians, other recovery companies and members of the public
• Ensuring day to day bookings are allocated to job cards for our technicians
• Communications with Police Force
• Updating the Police system with up to date information
• General office duties as required.
*Apex is the system which is used for receiving & allocating breakdown and recovery to us which then get deployed to technicians and drivers. Workshop jobs are also processed on the same system.

Experience:
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Must be confident speaking with the general public & other individuals, in-person & on the phone.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise.
• Proven experience in a receptionist or office administration role
• Knowledge and or interest of motor vehicles is advantages
• Support financial processes by generating customer invoices
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills

Please note you will be required to have and pass a DBS check due to the nature of the business.
