Today is really the point where the temperatures start to increase across the UK in terms of the upcoming heatwave. Whilst the word heatwave tends to be bandied around based on any type of warmer weather, meteorologists do actually have a scientific definition of it which it must adhere to before we even utter the word, this is three consecutive days of maxima and overnight minima five degrees or more above the climatic average.
We start the day though with some cloud across Central and Eastern areas and some of this thick enough for the odd patch of drizzle for parts of the East Midlands, but across Southern areas and the hazy warm morning sunshine sets the scene for the rest of the day with a dry, sunny and very warm day to come for Central and Southern areas and more in the way of cloud developing inland for more Northern and Eastern areas.

Temperatures today up on yesterday and certainly the humidity on the increase with 25-28C across much of England but cooler across Ireland and Scotland with 19-21C. London likely to pip the temperature charts today with 29-31C for the capital and the heat increasing through the course of this week with a risk of thunderstorms developing later. #ｂｂｑ

🛑 The £1,000 mistake you might be making before even leaving the driveway! 🚘👇

Here is a quick question for everyone: do you pop your extension towing mirrors on every single time you hitch up? Or do you skip them if you’re just doing a quick trip, or because you drive a big 4x4 or SUV?

If you skip them, you could be falling straight into The Towing Mirror Trap, and it’s an incredibly expensive mistake. 😮💸

Many people think extension mirrors are just a handy accessory to help with parking. In reality, they are a strict legal requirement in the UK if your caravan is wider than the rear of your tow car.

📜 The Law: You must legally be able to see clearly down the entire side of your caravan, and up to 20 metres behind you. Even the biggest trucks and SUVs on the market aren't wide enough to give you this view with standard factory side mirrors.

🚨 The Catch: If the police catch you towing a standard-width caravan without them, they can fine you up to £1,000 PER MISSING MIRROR and hit you with 3 penalty points on your licence. They can even deem your vehicle unsafe to drive on the spot!

It’s one of those laws that catches so many brilliant caravanners out, especially on those short journeys down to the local storage yard or service station.

High pressure is building close to the southwest of Britain and Ireland today bringing fine and warm conditions to much of the south and southwest of Britain and Ireland, but for northern Britain low pressure over Scandinavia will bring cool winds and further scattered showers.
For many parts of Scotland and northern England it will be a day of variable cloud amounts and brisk winds bringing further showers in from the northwest, the showers most frequent and heaviest towards the west and northwest of Scotland, but they will tend to become more scattered by this afternoon. Temperatures in these regions will again be on the cool side with highs ranging from 13°C to 17°C.

Meanwhile, for the rest of England and Wales along with Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, it will be a largely dry and fine day albeit with variable cloud amounts across more northern and eastern regions and the best of the sunshine reserved for Ireland, Wales, southern and southwestern England. As a result, it will be warmer in these areas, with temperatures of 18°C to 22°C, but remaining a touch cooler around windward coasts. #ｂｂｑ
