This will be the last post of 2019, the engine cases went on and so I just had to fit the bodywork and tank. All she needs now is a Dyno run to get the carbs set up and shes ready for summer, so she will go off to the legend that is Rob Pemberton and the guys at Spa Motorcycles Cheltenham, this is where I send a massive shout out to everyone that helped me complete this huge project, none more so than John Tooze and Sammy Cave. Have a very Merry Christmas and thank you for looking at my many posts, safe riding!!

As I mentioned when fitting the engine, I had trouble fitting the exhausts (like they wouldn’t fit at all, totally wrong). To be fair to We-Bike, the photo showed them fitted to a MK2 not a MK3 like mine, so Martin the welding God, saved me again by cutting a 3mm V shaped slot at the bottom of the the down pipe where it connects to the silencer which moved the silencer back and down, and with the mounting bracket moved forwards. They now clear the swing arm and fits perfectly at the barrel end, making the whole job, a job well done. Today I fitted the radiator and top hose.......... nearly there!!!!!

Made good progress today, really happy with the way things are coming on. Engine is in and some of the ancillaries are connected, the only slight fly on the ointment are the exhausts but more on that later, for now its a win!!

This is the top fuel tap that attaches to the fuel tank, and the gasket as you can see was totally f***ed. Suzuki doesn't sell it by itself, but with a little research and help from Spa Motorcycles Cheltenham, we worked out that it's the same size as one from a Suzuki GS750B. £9.00 saves me worrying about fuel leaks from that area, job done!!!!

It's been a busy few months, but we found some time and with the incredible skill of Sammy Cave and John Tooze, we got all the bodywork decals airbrushed on and then it was top coat time. Special thanks to Joe Vial from “Up To Scratch” paint for the help, you are all superstars, now its just getting the engine fitted and we have a runner!!

I took the Mizuno Motor exhausts to be ceramic coated as they came with in mild steel, they look great but in the UK climate would have rotted out in weeks, the company I used was MB Finishings in Toddington, Cheltenham. I’m sure you will agree they did a top job, the finish is just superb, I’m really happy with them, now to put it all back together!!

I just found these pictures of my repair on the tail unit, I thought I had posted them earlier, it had a bad split going right through on both sides, the repair was achieved by using Q-Bond, this is an amazing product.

Its M.O.T. Day for my X7 so I thought I’d bring it to the workshop and make sure everything works, funny to think the RG250 engine is just a water cooled X7 engine.
