🔧 Clutch switch or ECU?? 🤔

This Vauxhall Astra came to us as a non-runner, having previously been diagnosed by another garage as having a faulty ECU.

We carried out our own full diagnostic checks and traced the fault to something much simpler — a faulty clutch switch.

✅ Clutch switch replaced
✅ Vehicle starts and runs correctly
✅ No unnecessary ECU replacement

The customer also took the opportunity to have an MOT and oil service carried out while the car was with us.

🔧 Ford Focus EcoBoost Wet Belt Engine – Spot the Difference! 🔧

Take a look at these two vacuum pumps side by side.

⬅️ Left: Damaged vacuum pump
➡️ Right: Good working vacuum pump

On Ford's EcoBoost wet belt engines, deteriorating belt material can contaminate the engine oil. Over time, this debris can block oilways and starve components of lubrication, causing damage to parts such as the vacuum pump.

A failing vacuum pump can lead to:
⚠️ Reduced brake servo assistance
⚠️ Increased brake pedal effort
⚠️ Expensive engine repairs if left unchecked

Regular servicing and timely wet belt replacement are essential to help prevent costly failures.

If you own a Ford EcoBoost and are unsure of the condition of your wet belt, get in touch with PTS Motors to discuss your options.
