MH Suspension, is tucked away in a small North Wiltshire village of Lower Seagry, close to the famous Castle Coombe racing circuit. It was formed in 1989 by motorcycle racing specialist Mark Hammond. During five highly successful seasons Mark became the leading GP MX technician to legendary riders including Willie Simpson, Jeremy Whatley and Jorgen Nilsson. Throughout this time, Mark Hammond was a

lso seconded to work in Holland for world champions the WP racing team. In these early years, Mark spent doing all types of repairs but also tuning off-road and track bikes. He won numerous prestigious championships along the way including the ACU, AMCA and BSMA in both adult and schoolboy ranks. As time went on, MH Suspension's reputation for motorbike parts and motorcycle spares grew. Coupled with their exceptional quality of workmanship and wide range of skills and knowledge, they soon found they had become the leading UK specialists for both road and track. Because of the demands for their work and because they were doing so much suspension preparation, it was decided to take the difficult task and phase out all the other repairs they were asked to do and just concentrate on being the UK's top suspension shop.

When the sun finally comes out across the UK, we all know what happens to the famous biking routes. Traffic jams, campervans, and endless queues at the usual cafe stops❌

Over the next week, we’ll be sharing a few of our favourite "hidden gem" riding routes that are quieter which truly let you experience what your bike is capable of when it's dialled in perfectly.

First up is a spectacular Welsh secret: The B4343 from Tregaron to Aberystwyth🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This alternative route cuts through the stunning, rugged heart of Ceredigion.

As it’s a quieter backroad, the surface can be uneven. If your bike's front and rear damping aren't balanced, a sudden compression in a dip will upset your chassis geometry, making the bike wander or feel unstable right when you need precision.

Now that we are officially into July, peak riding season is in full swing🏍️

When we think about mid-season motorcycle maintenance, it's easy to spot worn tyres, thin brake pads, or a dry chain. But because your rear shock absorber is tucked away under the subframe, it’s often completely out of sight and out of mind.

3 signs your rear shock is begging for a mid-season refresh:

1️⃣ If you go over a mid-corner bump or a speed hump and the rear of the bike wallows, bounces, or rocks up and down several times instead of settling instantly, your rebound damping has officially quit the building.

2️⃣ Take a torch and look closely at the shiny shaft of your rear shock. Is there a dark, grimy ring of oil or fluid weeping past the main rubber seal? If so, your shock has lost its pressure.

3️⃣ If you find yourself constantly wrestling the handlebars to keep the bike from running wide on corner exits, a saggy, unserviced rear shock is likely squatting too much under acceleration, ruining your front-end steering geometry.

We’ve all seen it happen on the online forums or down at the local bike meet. A rider complains about their front end tucking or feeling vague in a corner, and someone immediately chimes in with: "Oh, just turn your compression clicker three clicks clockwise. Worked an absolute treat for me!"

It’s easily done, but copying someone else’s suspension settings or strictly sticking to a generic internet "cheat sheet" is one of the quickest ways to ruin your bike's handling. Why? Because suspension is completely personal😟

Ever noticed how your bike can feel planted first thing in the morning, but completely wallow and pitch by the afternoon?☀️

As you clock up the miles in warmer summer temperatures, your suspension fluid heats up. When oil gets hot, it becomes thinner, flowing through the internal valving much faster.

If your adventure bike is already heavily loaded, this thin fluid leads to excessive chassis movement causing the front end to dive violently under braking and the rear to squat under acceleration, making the whole bike feel massive and disconnected.

With another incredible Isle of Man TT wrapped up at the start of the month, we’ve all been glued to the screens watching racers tackle bumps, manhole covers, and stone walls at 180mph+. It’s the ultimate showcase of machine control.

There’s a massive handling misconception that many road riders pick up when watching elite racing like the TT. You might think that to go that fast, those superbikes must be stiffly sprung and rock-hard. In reality, it’s the exact opposite.

If a TT bike had a rigid, short-circuit racing setup, it would deflect off the first bump at Bray Hill and launch the rider into the hedges. To go fast on real, unpredictable roads, the suspension must be remarkably plush, compliant, and reactive. It needs to keep the rubber glued to the tarmac over uneven surfaces so the rider stays in total control.

If your road bike currently feels harsh, skips over potholes, or chatters uncomfortably through mid-corner bumps, you are actively fighting your bike instead of letting the chassis work for you.
