Our gold reflective tape helps shield the intake pipe from radiant heat on Stephen's Civic build.

Getting tape neatly around a bend is often the fiddliest part of the job. Smaller strips are easier to shape than one long piece, especially where the pipe changes direction. Start with a clean, dry surface and press each section down firmly as you go, so the adhesive makes good contact without wrinkles or lifted edges.

We've covered the preparation and fitting steps here:

A look at the wrapped manifold in Scott's S2000. Our exhaust wrap helps keep more heat inside the exhaust and reduces the heat radiating towards the surrounding engine bay.

If you're planning the same job, work out how much wrap you'll need before you start. Pipe diameter, the length you're covering and the overlap between turns all affect how far a roll will go. A manifold with several runners and tight bends needs more allowance than a straight section of pipe.

Our calculator will help you choose the roll lengths for your job:

We do love a tidy Chaser engine bay 😍 This one from uses our T3 titanium turbo blanket to help reduce heat radiating from the exhaust side of the turbo.

If you're fitting a blanket yourself, give it another check after the first heat cycle, once everything has cooled completely. Make sure it still sits snugly around the turbine housing and that its fasteners are secure. It's a simple final check before you call the job finished.

Our fitting guide takes you through the job from start to finish:

The gold Velcro sleeve on the MX-5 from is a handy option when you want to protect a hose without disconnecting it.

It opens along its length, so there's no need to push a bulky end fitting through a narrow sleeve. The reflective outer face helps reduce radiant heat reaching the covered line, making it useful around hot areas of the engine bay.

Keep a gap between the sleeve and the exhaust itself, as this type of protection is intended for radiant heat rather than direct contact.

Our gold and silver Velcro sleeves are here:

Evan used our turbo blanket on this Civic to help protect the nearby lines and reduce the heat reaching the bulkhead.

A turbo can heat the parts around it without touching them. The blanket insulates the hot turbine housing, reducing the heat radiating into the engine bay. That's why it can be useful even when there's already a gap between the turbo and the next component.

The R33 from uses our T3 titanium turbo blanket to help keep exhaust heat around the turbine housing and away from the rest of the engine bay.

Choosing a blanket for your own turbo starts with a tape measure. Measure around the turbine housing and across the section the blanket will cover, then compare those measurements with the size guide. The car model or a T3 fl**ge on its own won't tell you whether a blanket will fit properly.

We've put the measurements for our T25, T3 and T4 blankets here:

James's turbo K-swap EK9 is a build we've helped with a good mix of parts, including a Turbosmart wastegate, T7Design heater, Hybrid Racing radiator and K-swap hoses.

Planning a bay like this also means thinking about the heat reaching nearby parts. Exhaust components can radiate heat towards hoses, wiring and intake pipework without touching them. Considering that while you arrange the parts helps you choose protection before access gets tighter.

Our guide explains the different ways heat moves around an engine bay:

Have a look at the turbo setup in this PS13 from . Our blanket sits around the hot exhaust housing to help reduce the heat radiating towards the rest of the engine bay.

The compressor housing stays exposed because the blanket is there to insulate the hot turbine housing. That distinction matters when you’re checking the fit: you want the right coverage around the exhaust side, with the connections and moving parts kept clear.

If you’re planning the heat management on your own build, our blanket range has the dimensions to help you choose:

We had to share a closer look at this R34 from . The colour, the engine bay and the photos from .photography are all spot on. 😍

Our turbo blanket is fitted around the exhaust housing behind the silver compressor. That's the hot side of the turbo, and insulating it helps reduce the heat radiating towards the parts around it.

When you're planning the heat management for your own build, allow room for the blanket while you work out where the hoses and wiring will run. It's much easier to plan that space before everything is fitted.

Heat management matters underneath the car as well as under the bonnet. This rear view of the S13 from shows our exhaust wrap fitted where the pipe runs close to the surrounding hardware.

The wrap helps reduce heat radiating from the covered pipe, but it still needs sensible clearance around hoses, wiring and other components. Before wrapping a section, check its route and leave access to the joints and fasteners you will need to service.
