Did you know that pouring AdBlue into your diesel fuel tank is one of the most expensive forecourt mistakes in the UK?

AdBlue is NOT a fuel additive. It’s a 32.5% urea-and-water solution designed strictly for your exhaust system’s Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) unit.

Here is how to fill AdBlue correctly every single time:

Locate the Correct Filler Cap: Look for the small BLUE cap marked “AdBlue” (usually next to your diesel cap, under the boot floor, or under the bonnet). Never pour it into the black or green diesel filler neck!

Use an Anti-Spill Spout: Always attach an anti-spill nozzle or funnel. AdBlue is corrosive to vehicle paintwork and interior carpets—wipe away any drips immediately with cold water.

Don’t Overfill: Stop when the canister clicks off or when the tank is full. AdBlue expands when it freezes, so leave expansion room.

Reset the Dashboard Warning: Turn on the ignition (without starting the engine) for 30–60 seconds to let the ECU register the refill before driving away.
