The public deserve to know how the car driving test service is really performing 🔍.

Today, we've published detailed data on driving test waiting times on GOV.UK and we’ll continue to share this each month.

This includes:

⏱️the actual average waiting time between booking and taking a driving test

📅the total number of appointments that DVSA has made available over the next 24 weeks of the booking window

📈 the percentage of tests that are still available to book in the booking window

🔟the number of weeks until at least 10% of weekly test appointments at a centre are still available to book (currently referred to as the ‘average waiting time’)

✅We’re doing this because the National Audit Office said our data should more accurately show the experience of learner drivers.

💪This work builds on the action we've already been taking. Since June 2025, we've conducted close to a quarter of a million extra car driving tests — and changes to the booking system now mean it's against the law for third parties to book tests on someone else's behalf tackling those who sought to hoover up tests to resell at inflated prices.
