🏆 Recently, car magazine Auto Express performed megatests on Britain’s favourite - the PHEV. The MG HS Plugin Hybrid was in a class of 58 other hybrids before the final 16 were chosen for their EV range and efficiency. Testing was performed over 3 days with consistent temperatures.
The first part of the route, in pure EV mode, established each car’s electric range with a full battery and majored on urban driving through Bedford and St Neots, linked by 70mph A-road runs. When every battery was flat, they stopped the cars, zeroed the trip, then headed back. This run included more motorway miles to see what the fuel economy was once the power cell had been exhausted. This left the final 5 to be tested again after dynamics, refinement levels and packaging merits were debated.
