A45 AMG in with no boost and no engine lights to point us in the right direction.

Luckily, this is a pretty common issue on these. Over time the wastegate actuator rod can develop play, meaning the wastegate can’t close properly when the ECU asks for boost. Instead of building boost pressure, it’s simply escaping past the wastegate.

A quick look at the datalogs backed up our suspicions, and sure enough the actuator rod had excessive play. Sometimes the simplest checks can save a lot of head scratching!

So the sensible choice of what to do next, is always let’s upgrade it 😈

So we sent the turbo to so they can strip it, service it, fix the actuator and then turn it into a hybrid unit aswell! We were planning a stage 2 build on this AMG 45, but with the new turbo we can go a little bit further!

New turbo fitted, fresh engine service provided using quality Shell Helix 5W40 performance oils prepping it for stage 2! On our datalogs the intake temps were super high aswel! We were reaching over 70C degrees 🤯 so we recommend to upgrade the intercooler so when he comes back with the turbo bedded in, it’s all ready for some power 😈

Oh she’s quick!!!

A valved system is the way to go! Sporty sound whilst being able to kill the drone is an amazing feature to have!

This Seat Ibiza came in for a big upgrade! We’ve changed the diffuser, built a catback system removing 2 of the huge silencers, fitted a nice 3” shotgun style exhaust tip and now she sounds lovely!

For a 1.0 L 3 cylinder on this system it sounds not too shabby at all. It’s not overly loud, so there’s no raspy harsh frequencies with your foot down, it’s all actually very civil and respectable! And obviously if you want to tone it down, simply close the valves and it’s almost stock levels of sound, but with a sporty tone!

Another one ☝️ Seat Ibiza in for a valved catback system custom fabricated all in house!

These Ibiza’s also come with fake tips from factory, so we fitted a customer supplied diffuser, and installed some real tips on there which looks loaaads better!

Inside the cabin, valves closed it’s considerably quieter! Valves open and it sounds sportier. Perfect 👌

A valved exhaust system, absolute best of both worlds!

Valves closed sounds a tad louder and sportier than the stock system, perfectly liveable with, tiny amount of increased drone, but we’re talking tiny! And then when you want abit of a spirited drive you can simply open up the valves by the fob key and she sounds much livelier!

This one was a non M-Sport model, so customer supplied us with a new rear bumper and diffuser which we fitted so we can line up the exhaust to!

Stage 2 Golf R running like a dream!

There’s a reason why these are so popular! With a few bolt ons you can achieve over an extra 100 BHP! And with it being paired with a Quattro system and DSG, they’re unbelievably quick!

So here’s a Golf R that we had in recently, we fitted the following modifications:
Downpipe
Sports cat
Resonated catback exhaust system
HPFP upgrade
Induction kit with turbo elbow upgrade

After multiple revisions, in the sun we got it running beautifully!

• Boost pressure accurately tracking 2600+ mbar target under full load showing the turbo setup is keeping up efficiently without major boost deviation

• HPFP maintaining 212 bar rail pressure at peak torque meaning the fueling system still has headroom and isn’t struggling under load

• LPFP staying stable at 5.26 bar throughout the pull helping ensure consistent fuel supply to the high pressure system

• Lambda holding steady at 0.83 under WOT keeping combustion temps and exhaust temps safe at high power levels

• 0.00° ignition correction across all 4 cylinders showing the engine is happy on ignition timing with no signs of knock

• Intake temps controlled at just 28°C during the run helping maintain consistency and reduce timing pull

• Smooth wastegate control throughout the pull showing the turbo isn’t being overworked or overspinning 👌

And the finals results are 413 BHP and 565 Nm

Whilst all of that may sound impressive, what’s more impressive is how the car now feels and responds to the throttle when you put your foot down! And that’s what is most important!

Abarth 595 - if you have one and you’re running a stage 1 or 2 tune, we recommend you swap the stock system for an upgraded one with bigger diameter!
