🔧 DEFENDER 90 TD5 CHASSIS SWAP!

Another big project underway at Moorland Rovers! 💪

This 2006 Land Rover Defender 90 TD5 is in the workshop for a full chassis swap and bulkhead replacement — and we’re getting stuck straight in! 🔩

From stripping the interior and removing the old bulkhead to lifting the body off the chassis, there’s a serious amount of work involved in bringing this Defender back to its best.

✅ Brand-new Richards chassis
✅ New bulkhead painted to match the original factory colour
✅ Body separated from the old chassis
✅ Engine, gearbox and suspension removed
✅ Rebuild preparations underway!

There’s still plenty to do, but we’re making great progress on this one! 👀

Next chassis and bulkhead change well underway on this TD5 D90.

It’s being treated to a new Richards Chassis Galvanised Chassis and Galvanised Bulkhead.

The bulkhead has already been through the paint shop and installed back onto the body and now it’s time to split the body and chassis ready for the new one.

Full steam ahead for the workshop team, as we have a growing queue of chassis swaps waiting in the wings.

And we made it!

One 1989 Land Rover 130 - ex ambulance - turned Gun Bus, fully repainted and handed over to the client ready for the shooting season to start tomorrow.

It’s has been an epic 10 battle, but the team have done amazing well, and once again knocked it out of the park.

I’m sure everyone will sleep well tonight.

More to follow on this project… but for now congrats to the team and best of luck to John.

Day 10 — deadline day for the Gun Bus. 🚙🎨

After ten days of stripping, bodywork, primer and paint, the Bronze Green Land Rover Gun Bus is finally coming back together.

The team is refitting the lights, grille, chequer plate, doors, new seals, rear step, glass and all the smaller exterior details before the paint gets its final wet sand, cut and polish.

We’ve also added a custom colour-matched roof sign with the estate’s branding as one of the final finishing touches.

A couple of hours left. All hands on deck. Handover next.

Paint 🎨 time!

After weeks of hard prep work it’s finally time to put the icing on the cake.

Watch Andy as he lays down the first few coats 2k Bronze Green right at the end of day 9!

24 hours to go! Lots of work to do. But we are going to make it!

Day 7 of the gunbus project complete - 3 days to go.

The Roof has been raptored, scotched and finished in 2k bronze green.

The final colour has started to be layed down on the body.

The inside of the doors and chequer plate have all been painted.

Tomorrow the full body goes green, and the rest of the accessories get painted.
