I think it looks good, I really hope its not vandalised though, we've not had an upgrade in the bus stands for years and years. 👌

A new transport interchange for Lanark is now open.
The enhanced bus facility marks a major investment in the future of the town and the wider public transport network.

Fantastic explanation of why NOT to exit a junction when a vehicle is turning into the junction, definitely do not go if you can't see if there's anything overtaking, its simple.

When approaching a bend the first assessment you need to make is how sharp the bend is. If you get this wrong you may find yourself skidding and losing control of your car.

From your assessment of how sharp the bend is comes the next question - is my current speed appropriate?

Remember the golden rule - you must be able to stop, on your side of the road, in the distance you can see to be clear.

Why Do Driving Instructors Charge for Late Cancellations?

One of the questions I am occasionally asked is:

"Why should I pay for a lesson I haven't had?"

It's a fair question, so I'd like to explain why most professional driving instructors have a cancellation policy.

Like the majority of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) in the UK, I am self-employed. This means I only earn an income when lessons take place. Unlike many other professions, I cannot simply recover lost earnings when a client cancels at short notice.

When you book a driving lesson, that time is reserved exclusively for you. I turn away other enquiries and organise my working day around my diary. If a lesson is cancelled at short notice, it is often impossible to fill that slot, meaning both the time and income are lost.

In addition to this, the costs of running a driving school continue regardless of whether a lesson goes ahead. These costs include:

- Vehicle finance or purchase costs
- Insurance
- Fuel and maintenance
- Vehicle tax and servicing
- Training and professional development
- Advertising and administration
- Licensing and registration fees

When you pay for a lesson, you are not only paying for the use of the car. You are also paying for the knowledge, training, experience, and professional instruction provided by a qualified ADI.

As a learner, you rightly expect your instructor to be reliable, punctual, professional, and committed to helping you succeed. In return, instructors ask that clients respect the appointments they have booked and provide adequate notice if plans change.

For this reason, I operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. If a lesson is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, the lesson fee may still be payable. This policy is explained when lessons are first booked and forms part of the agreement between instructor and pupil.

This is no different from many other appointment-based services such as dentists, private healthcare providers, tutors, beauty salons, and other professional businesses that reserve time specifically for their clients.

Of course, I understand that genuine emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can arise. I always try to be reasonable and consider each situation individually. However, repeated short-notice cancellations or missed lessons can make it difficult to provide a consistent service and may result in lessons being discontinued.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. By respecting booked lesson times, you help me provide a reliable and professional service to all of my pupils.
