Replacing parts until the air con starts working isn't diagnostics. It's an expensive guessing game.

A proper diagnosis looks at what the system is doing, where it's failing and which component is actually responsible.

Sometimes the obvious suspect isn't the problem at all.

Test first. Understand the fault. Repair what's actually needed.

Running the system regularly throughout the year helps keep refrigerant and lubricant circulating through the components and seals.

You don't need to wait for a hot day either. Use it alongside the heater when you need to clear moisture from the cabin.

Moisture can build up around the evaporator and ventilation system, creating the perfect environment for bacteria and unpleasant odours.

If your air con was regassed recently and it's already stopped cooling properly again, there's probably more to investigate.

Refrigerant doesn't simply get "used up" like fuel.

If the system is losing refrigerant faster than expected, there may be a leak or another fault that needs finding.

Repeatedly topping it up isn't the same as repairing it.

Find the cause first. 🔍❄️

Turn it on, let it run and check whether the cabin actually gets cold. Listen for unusual noises and pay attention to any odd smells.

Air conditioning is easy to forget about when you're looking at paintwork, mileage and service history.
