Booked in for a Re-Tune on a 2017 Ford Transit Connect 1.5tdci

The customer thought the previous tune was the issue , luckily for him I carried out the correct pre - tuning checks and identity a hardware issue !

Rather than rocking up and just flashing a file straight in which would have left the customer in the exact same position.

Mercedes Vito flashed back to stock for a trade customer.

Current file in the vehicle checked to see what has been altered and if it's been tuned , before reverting it back to factory software so the garage can fit a new dpf.

Teach in process and necessary re-sets carried out , live data also checked to confirm operation of dpf.

I was called out to look at an SQ5 in limp mode today.

The customer had been told an EGR solution would help by a local garage, luckily for him I investigated live data before just flashing in a solution , his dpf differential pressure was showing 280mbar at idle ! A normal reading would be around 15mbar.

Without these pre checks he would be no further on with a fix & none the wiser that his cars software had been altered to hide the fact that his dpf was the cause of his issues.

After removing the ECU and taking a bench read I found that the dpf had been deleted from the software but the physical aspect was still fitted to the vehicle and heavily restricted causing the under boost and limp mode.

The customer now has the correct diagnosis to move forward with a repair.

VW Golf 2.0tdi for Ⓜ️Tune Stage 1 ECU & TCU performance remap 💻📈

This 2.0 TDI comes with 150hp from the factory, but thankfully VW left enough on the table to allow us to unlock more performance.

The Stage 1 engine and gearbox software has given the golf a serious boost in both power and torque.

The engine software optimises boost pressure, fuelling and torque delivery to improve performance throughout the rev range, giving the Golf stronger mid-range acceleration and improved in-gear response.

Whilst the gearbox software helps the engine and transmission work together to deliver a more refined driving experience and make better use of the additional torque by carefully adjusting torque limiters and reducing shift times.

All this equates to a more enjoyable driving experience !

VW Polo GTi 1.8tsi for Ⓜ️Tune Stage 1 performance remap 💻📈

The 1.8 TSI is a great platform for tuning, with plenty of potential to unlock while retaining excellent drivability.

This Polo GTI has a manual gearbox and the factory clutch is notorious for slipping ,so simply chasing maximum torque isn't the right approach.

The tune focuses on delivering power progressively, with careful consideration given to torque delivery throughout the rev range.

The aim is to maximise performance while helping to reduce as much unnecessary stress on the clutch as possible.

If the customer fits an uprated clutch then we can re-tune it and send it 😁

Even with this approach the car still drives incredibly well , like a true hot hatch should 👌🏻

The stock figures are actually quite good out of the box for these, but it's how it's delivered that lets it down , the tune now sharpens up the response and gives a stronger midrange which in turn helps the auto box to shift in a more positive fashion , resulting in improved driveability and much more enjoyable driving experience.
