Every successful bend starts with a successful setup.

This is where bend geometry, tooling alignment, clamp force, pressure die settings and springback compensation are established. Getting these variables right is critical for repeatability and dimensional accuracy.

The biggest variable is often the material itself. Different batches can exhibit different mechanical properties despite meeting the same specification. Variations in yield strength, tensile strength, wall thickness tolerance, seam orientation and surface finish all influence bend behaviour and springback.

Add tooling wear, lubrication changes, ambient temperature, and machine condition into the equation and it’s easy to see why setup is one of the most skilled parts of tube bending.

A few millimetres of adjustment here can be the difference between a capable process and a pile of scrap. That’s why setup isn’t just preparation - it’s process engineering in action.
