Cadwell rundown

A place with huge history and a track that demands respect at every turn. It rewards accuracy and can punish mistakes heavily with no run off areas, i just love it and every turn feels like a dareing move you may wish you had quit on the last turn when your on the limit.

Qualifying went well and i knew i had tough competition to fight with, as the laps counted up, confidence in the cars grew and lap times were getting faster and faster and i was tussling and exchanging positions throughout but was just pipped by 0.026 to pole by Andrew in his Italian stallion of a fiat 500 cup car, this meant p2 but the outside line for turn 1 in the race and things could get very interesting knowing i would have to stay flat to the floor on the edge of the grass to even stand a chance πŸ˜…

Race time and a green flag lap to condition the cars tyres for an aggressive start, i was feeling quite confident as i pulled up alongside andrew until he gave his engine a quick rev to limit to test his launch control settings, that thing sounds like a pi$$€] off bear ready for attack πŸ˜‚ i did what every driver does in this situation and just stared straight ahead..
lights out and im away perfectly but andrews car had bogged with the grip and he suffered massively as i see cars in my mirror including my team mate Sean Wortley darting to avoid him and its mafia p1 & p2 for 3 laps until it was re started due to another competitors engine letting go on the racing line,
Restart went the same as andrew still struggled off the start but i was away again to push as hard as i could to undo my 30second winners penalty i carried from donington.
The team called me in for pitstop and as usual they were on form to make me a perfect pitstop, i kept pushing and didn’t give back markers time to think when overtaking which became a huge advantage keeping time and i finished p1 with a 55 second lead πŸ’ͺ🏻🏁🏁

Race 2 was a & mix and p2 start, unfortunately this time my traction control wouldnt turn off so it would apply the brakes every time it panicked πŸ˜‚ still great fun and finished p2 overall p1 in turbotintops πŸ’ͺ🏻🏁

Mini Mafia leading the way comfortably in P1 & P2 until an unfortunate race restart was required when a competitors engine let go at turn one covering the track in oil

A fantastic endurance race with the Classic Sports Car Club Donington Park on Sunday
43 machines of all shapes and sizes fighting not just each other in their respective classes and series but the same enemy.. for 2hours, the heat!! πŸ₯΅

Not only was it possibly the first ever endurance race to offer a fueling stop at the fuel pumps if desired, but i think surely the first 2hour race without a single safety car?? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ some fantastic driving and respect throughout by everyone πŸ’ͺ🏻

Qualifying went brilliantly and out of 43 cars i placed her 20th on the grid 1st in class and 2nd in turbo tin tops

The race got underway under a good old traditional flag start which was a nice change and off we hurled into the first bend like a sprint round, πŸ˜†
i was in my element picking off as many as i dared enjoying the tussle fighting for position immediately with my class rivals tate /payne in their wippet of a Gen 4 Clio cup car, great fun, until i hit some slick a few laps later getting all out of shape for Redgate, sending me back a few places, but not down i settled back in after a lap when i could be confident it wasn’t a car fault and the marshals signalled a slippery surface flag so got back on pace for the first stint of 55minutes and in for fuel,
Out the car i got as my team refuelled and the heat zapped me like id just spent an hour in a scolding bathtub πŸ˜‚

Back in and on it again but the pit stop was too slow getting myself sure to go again and i lost precious time, im now 2 laps down on my main rival but still only half way through the race so i push on.

Second stint tactics were simple, i could go to the end, but had to do one more mandatory pitstop before 1:50:00 so i just had to hope it could be made up with a safety car which would bring me in during a forced slower track pace, unfortunately everybody behaved to well πŸ˜‚and in i came with only 30 seconds left to pit before a time penalty, what a team πŸ’ͺ🏻

I get back in after a much better stop and push as hard as i could for the last 10minutes of the race and managed to bring it home
P2 in the p2 in class
