Know the UK Speed Limits! 🚗

Drive safely and stay legal with this handy guide to the national speed limits across the UK:
🟡 Urban roads (with street lighting) → 30 mph�🟠 Single carriageways (country roads) → 60 mph�🔴 Motorways → 70 mph
Always watch out for signs though. Limits can be lower in certain areas, and Wales now defaults to 20 mph in many built-up zones!

The 2-Second Rule: Your Safety Buffer on Motorways

According to Highway Code Rule 126, you should always leave at least a two-second gap between your vehicle and the one in front when driving on a motorway. This gives you valuable time to react if the driver ahead brakes unexpectedly.

A simple way to check your distance:

Choose a fixed point beside the road, such as a signpost or bridge. When the vehicle in front passes it, start counting: “one thousand and one, one thousand and two.”

If you reach the same point before you finish counting, you’re following too closely and need to increase the gap.

💡 Top tip: In wet, icy or poor weather conditions, increase your following distance to at least four seconds.
