A new electric SUV brand has just launched in the UK, and it's worth paying attention to. AION, part of GAC Group (one of China's largest car manufacturers), has opened its first UK dealerships and started delivering its debut model, the AION V.

The headline numbers are strong for the price point:
🟡 317 miles of WLTP range
🟡 30–80% charge in 18 minutes
🟡 From £36,450 on the road
🟡 Eight-year warranty, servicing, MOT and breakdown cover included as standard

That last point is significant. For anyone considering a brand they haven't heard of before, the Great 8 Promise is a direct and well-structured answer to the obvious concerns around long-term reliability and running costs.

It's early days, but on paper this looks like a serious contender in the family electric SUV segment.

One of the biggest questions employers ask when considering an EV Salary Sacrifice scheme is:

It's a fair concern, and one that can sometimes stop businesses from exploring what is otherwise a highly effective employee benefit.

The reality is that modern Salary Sacrifice schemes are designed with these scenarios in mind. Whether it's resignation, redundancy, retirement, parental leave, or long-term sickness, there are protections and processes that can help minimise risk for both employers and employees.

We've put together a practical guide explaining:
✅ What happens to a salary sacrifice vehicle when an employee leaves
✅ The different circumstances employers should plan for

"How do I charge it?"

That's why we've refreshed our EV charging guide for 2026. It's designed for drivers who are completely new to electric vehicles and covers the three charging situations most people encounter:

• Home charging
• Workplace charging
• Public charging

We've kept it practical, jargon-light and focused on the questions new EV drivers actually ask.

CUPRA just opened order books on the Raval, its new fully electric city car, and it's worth paying attention to.

Starting from £23,785, it's the most accessible car CUPRA has ever made. But don't let the price fool you. This is still a proper CUPRA: bold design, sporty handling, built on Volkswagen Group's latest MEB+ platform, and available with up to 225PS and 272 miles (WLTP) of range.

For anyone who's wanted a CUPRA but found the Born or Tavascan a stretch, the Raval changes the maths. The 52kWh models also qualify for the UK Government's £1,500 electric car grant, which brings the entry point for the longer-range versions to £28,495.

Seven years in, CUPRA now has three electric models spanning city car to SUV coupe. That's a proper electric range, and it's been built remarkably quickly for a brand that only launched in 2018.

We've got the full breakdown of prices, trims and how the Raval compares to the Born and Tavascan on our news page: https://www.drive-electric.co.uk/news/cupra-raval-electric-urban-car/

Ferrari just unveiled its first fully electric car, and it's unlike anything they've ever built.
The Ferrari Luce has 1,050hp, hits 100km/h in 2.5 seconds, and does over 530km on a charge. It has four doors, five seats (a first for Ferrari), and 597 litres of boot space. It supports 350kW fast charging.

But the story that really caught our attention is the design. Ferrari didn't hand this to their own studio. They brought in Sir Jony Ive, the man behind the iPhone, iPad, iMac, Apple Watch, and AirPods, and gave him and his creative collective LoveFrom complete creative freedom.

The result is a car built around a philosophy of absolute clarity. A pure glasshouse body. Floating aerodynamic wings. An interior where hundreds of individually considered details add up to a single, clean whole. And a Gorilla Glass key with an E Ink display that pulses Ferrari yellow when it docks in the console, a world first in automotive.

It also comes with an 8-year electric powertrain warranty and Ferrari's 7-year service programme. For anyone thinking about long-term EV ownership costs, that's a serious statement of confidence.
