💚 JUMP for St John's Hospice 💚

Callum, Trevor and Gary are doing a sponsored sky dive to raise money for St John’s Hospice. They will be free falling from upto 11,000 ft!

They need to raise £440 EACH - So a total of at least £1320!

Most of us know of someone who’s had to use the hospice at some point. It offers vital support to our area and the work they do is priceless … but to keep it going and keep the level of care how it is/ offer the support that they offer, fundraising is crucial.

The County Council have been out on Bowerham this morning spraying white lines around potholes 🙌🏼

This vehicle came in for tyres- When our tech was changing the tyre, the wheel felt hot so he also checked the brakes and found that they were metal to metal… There was no pad left!

🚧 Overnight roadworks at Heysham Roundabout

We’ll be carrying out essential resurfacing works at Heysham Roundabout (LA3 2SB) over three nights this week:

🗓 Monday 15 June to Wednesday 17 June
🕘 9pm – 6am each night

Here’s what to expect:
• Monday night: Work begins on the south side of the roundabout, including the approach from Middleton Road
• Tuesday night: Work moves to the north side, including the opposite approach from Middleton Road
• Wednesday night: Final surfacing activities across remaining sections of the roundabout

These works help keep the road surface safe and in good condition for everyone and have been coordinated with the ferries and power station to minimise disruption.

Please be advised that traffic management will be in place overnight, so allow a little extra time for your journey and follow signage on site.

This vehicle came in for a service! Whilst the mechanic was doing this, he found the hydraulic fluid was misting along the body of the shock absorber, which shows it’s losing the fluid. This has caused it to fail (as you can see here in the video).
The piston rod isn’t meant to disappear into the cylinder- it’s meant to stop before- and then push back out.

A shock absorber is designed to absorb bumps in the road. It minimises bounce and vibration making sure the tyres have contact with the road for safe handling and braking.

This is one event that I’ve been to numerous times and is always full of information thanks to the jam packed line up of speakers. We hear about key research insights, campaign previews and the latest developments.
Keeping our tyre safety knowledge fresh is important to us, as well as supporting the Tyresafe message.
