Foam edge tape… “Customer’s ask…. Why” 🤷🏻♂️
Here’s why 👇🏻
In a car bodyshop, foam edge tape is mainly used for soft-edge masking when painting, especially around door, bonnet, boot and panel openings.
Unlike normal masking tape, the foam sits in the panel gap or on a swage line and creates a gradual paint transition rather than a hard masking line. This is particularly useful when painting a door shut or blending colour/clearcoat into an opening. It also helps stop overspray entering the interior/door shut area or unwanted areas and can seal irregular gaps better than conventional tape. 👌🏻
