For those of you looking for test cancellations, cancellation apps are completely out. Some have already been removed from App Stores.
Ran it through ChatGPT and here’s one suggestion

Use the official GOV.UK “Change your driving test” service.

* Check the DVSA booking system 2–4 times a day rather than constantly.
* Spend 5–10 minutes refreshing each time, particularly:
* 6:00–8:00 am
* 11:30 am–1:00 pm
* 4:00–6:00 pm
* Occasionally after 9:00 pm
* Be ready to accept any suitable slot immediately, as cancellations are often snapped up within a minute or two. Check with me for available dates

Latest from DVSA….Important!!!

We have started to cancel driving test that we have identified as being booked or managed outside of the new rules.

Taking stronger action against those breaking the rules
As you know, from 12 May 2026 only learner drivers have been allowed to book, change, swap or cancel a car driving test.

This rule change has given us new powers to take direct action against those who misuse the booking service. And we are using those powers to make things fairer for all learner drivers.

Cancelling driving tests
We have started to cancel driving test that we have identified as being booked or managed outside of the new rules.

So far, we have cancelled 450 tests.

They were cancelled as they were booked using a payment card that has been used to pay for lots of driving tests for different learner drivers. This means that the tests were not booked by the learner driver taking the test. Our terms and conditions allow us to cancel tests where this happens.

We are continually monitoring the booking service and will keep cancelling tests where we have evidence of bookings made in breach of the law and our terms and conditions.

This will not stop.

We have placed 4,034 online booking suspensions on the system
A suspension means the driving licence holder can no longer book or manage tests online. They will need to call our customer service centre instead.

We’ve also updated our guidance to confirm that a suspension stays in place for 12 months.

We have reported apps to Apple and Google
We have successfully removed 17 apps from on the Apple and Google platforms that break the terms and conditions of our booking service. We will continue to monitor the platforms and report any new apps to have them removed as well.

Help us get the message to your pupils
Please remind your pupils of 3 simple things:

Do not use unofficial apps or websites to find or book a test slot.
Do not book a test through anyone on social media.
Only ever use GOV.UK - it is free and secure.
If they ignore this advice, the consequences are serious.

DVSA can suspend their online booking access. Their test can be cancelled. They could lose hundreds of pounds with no way to get it back.

And once they hand over their personal data to a scammer, they have no control over what happens to it.

We’ve published guidance for your pupils about this.

Again, latest from DVSA. They’re basically telling us not to use apps to check for booking slots. The apps to check for cancellations are still there and some have found it useful as a quick way to be notified of slots becoming available. DVSA are warning us to only use the gov.uk site to check for cancellations. See below.

Only use GOV.UK to manage your booking

We’re reminding learner drivers about unofficial apps and scams
As you know, since 12 May 2026, only learner drivers have been allowed to book, change, swap or cancel a car driving test.

The new terms and conditions for the booking service mean that learner drivers are not allowed to:

use unofficial apps, websites or services that scan the driving test booking service looking for appointments
give someone else their details so they can book a car driving test for them
We’re reminding learner drivers
We’re emailing learner drivers to remind them to stop using any apps or tools that search for driving tests for them. They must only use GOV.UK to manage their booking.

We’re reminding them that if they use an app or tool that searches for driving tests, we will:

suspend their ability to manage their test online – they will then only be able to make changes or book a new test by phone
cancel their booking
Our top priority is making the system fairer for all learners.

We are continuously monitoring activity and where misuse is clearly identified – including cases where a learner has not legitimately booked their test or where our terms and conditions are breached – we will take appropriate action, up to and including cancellation of the test.

We’re also reminding learners about the dangers of trying to book or get an earlier test through anyone on social media.

do not use unofficial apps or websites to find or book a test slot
do not book a test through anyone on social media

This is why checks are done when you go for your Theory test.

Theory test cheat handed prison sentence

A learner driver has been sentenced to 6 months in prison following an attempt to obtain a driving licence fraudulently.

In December 2024, staff at Doncaster Theory Test Centre became concerned about one learner driver when their handheld metal detector began beeping during a routine security check.

Although staff did not find a device in the individual’s possession, they suspected that the learner was planning to use one. Due to this, they were stopped from taking their test.

After the incident, the learner received a warning letter. This informed them that any further attempts to fraudulently obtain a driving licence may lead to prosecution action.

However, in January 2025 the learner driver sent an impersonator to sit their theory test at another test centre on their behalf. The impersonator passed the test.

Given the previous fraudulent attempt, the CCTV footage from the test centre was reviewed and inspected – and the cheating uncovered.

The learner’s pass was revoked and in March 2026 they appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court where they received a sentence of 6 months immediate custody in relation to one charge of supplying of articles for the use in fraud.

From DVSA…..

Changes to the driving test booking rules happening today.

Update on the changes to the booking service
From today, your pupils can only move their test to one of the 3 nearest driving test centres to where their test is currently booked.

For existing bookings, this applies to wherever the test is booked today - not the original booking location.

For any changes made from today, the 3 nearest centres are calculated from the booked test centre at the time of any change.

Why we're doing this
Our priority is to stop learners being exploited by third parties, put them in control of their driving test and make the process fairer by clamping down on businesses that resell tests at inflated prices.

Today's location restrictions will help deter bookings at centres where learners do not intend to sit their test.

A reminder of the other changes already in place
From 31 March 2026, learners are limited to 2 changes per booking.

From 12 May 2026, only the learner can book, change, swap or cancel their own test. It’s now against the law for you or anyone else to book a test for your pupils. You’re also not allowed to change, swap or cancel a driving test for someone else.

Since 12 May, we have suspended 3,605 accounts from booking online, acted against bot use and reported apps to store providers for removal.

We will continue to monitor misuse of the system and take action against those doing so.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your pupils navigate these changes.
