This is what a DPF can look like before and after cleaning 😱

The difference is pretty striking!

Your DPF – or Diesel Particulate Filter – captures soot produced by your diesel engine. Normally, much of that soot is burned off through a process called regeneration, but sometimes build-up can become a problem😬

Regular short journeys can be one contributing factor, as your car may not always get the conditions it needs to complete the regeneration process.

But here's the important bit: a DPF problem doesn't automatically mean you need a new DPF. Depending on what's causing the problem and the condition of the filter, cleaning may be an appropriate solution 👍

That's why we always come back to the same message: find out what's causing the problem first ❓

It might look a bit like a sieve – and that's essentially what it's there to do in your engine 😲

This is an oil pick-up strainer from a customer's vehicle. Its job is to help stop debris entering the engine's oil supply 👏

But look closely at what's clogging it. Those dark particles are pieces of a deteriorating WET TIMING BELT 😬

As a wet belt breaks down, material can enter the engine oil and collect around the strainer. If enough builds up, it can restrict the flow of oil around the engine – potentially leading to much more serious damage 😱

It's a problem you can't see from behind the wheel, which is why correct servicing and wet-belt maintenance matter...not sure if your car has a wet belt? Ask us, before it's too late!
