We've been down on the beach helping with the coastal defence work. The job is simple enough on paper: take shingle from where the sea has piled it up and move it back to where the sea has been taking it away. That shingle bank is what stands between the waves and the homes and businesses behind it. Keep it topped up and it keeps doing its job. Plenty of tonnes shifted, plenty more to go.
