This is why the right diagnostic tool and utilising all of its features are so important to getting a vehicle diagnosed correctly. TEST DON’T GUESS!

Action shot of Ant testing a turbo wastegate actuator on a Toyota Hilux, on a initial actuator test, the wastegate only moved a little and not the full operating range.

We then utilised a cool feature on the Zeus+ where we can use the component tester and actuator test on one screen, so when actuated via the diagnostic tool, the control pulses to the motor and (not shown in the photo but a current clamp was used just after the photo was taken) current flow were analysed and proved that the ECU and wiring are good and the fault is internal on the actuator.

Test, don't guess.
